Graduation: Class of 2006!

Postby Linksquest » Wed May 31, 2006 9:48 am

Tonight I will be graduating from High School! I will be free at last!!! Many people put a lot of significance on this day, and rightfully so. I'm not really emotional now, but I think I will miss my friends moreso when I am off at the University in the Fall.

Is anybody else graduating this year?
If not, how did your graduation go when you did?

I graduated last year. Mine went pretty well, but I can't really remember what all I did that day. I had to give a speech because I was Salutatorian. *shivers* That has to be the scariest non-life threatening moment of my life. But people told me I did awesome and it was one of the funniest ones they'd heard in a long time. I even got compliments for it when I went back to watch graduation this year. Woot for good graduation memories!

I don't like the class of '06! Well it's more of a hatred for the freshmen that started the not likeing of '06. The freshmen wrote on the seniors cars saying "class of '09 rocks!" "Freshmen rule" etc. So the seniors got back by writing on everyone cars the next day! Let this be a warning to you all, don't mess with the seniors, they do the same thing you did on a larger scale to make everyone hate you. anyway, Congrats on graduating Linksquest.

Why must we be abandoned in times of need?
Do others not see when we yearn for their touch;
An insatiable hunger only they can feed.
Left alone with out their words – fallen into darkness.
Stumbling blindly without their light,
We fall and scream, knowing we've faced too much,
Knowing the only answer is flight.
Flight from the lives we once faced
And the joys and terrors others have brought.
Our time with them, a time of joy and life,
Wonder we all, was it for naught?

Oh, although it wasn't actually part of graduation, I think my class started a new tradition that was totally awesome. For the last day of school for the Seniors, we decided to sleep out in the school parking lot. We already had a senior all night party with prizes for college, but this we decided to do on our own. The Administration got wind of it though and gave us a speech on what was and wasn't allowed on school grounds, but told us we could do it anyways. So we ended up playing football in the dark (lost someone's class ring...), Pizza Hut donated food for us, some person had a little fire thing in their pickup that we lit, later in the night a group of us randomly decided to go to Subway so we drove 45 miles away (at about 95 mph in the dark) so that we could go to a Subway that was open all night long. It was so fun!! Only a few of us ended up sleeping outside, but some stayed in their cars. I was with the group of 5 or 6 that slept in the back of someone's pick up. That was such an awesome night. The Senior class did a parking lot night this year too.

Likewise. I was SO scared that I'd trip on stage though^^ I did end up making a very light trip, but VERY unnoticeable^^

Best part of the night was the Dry Grad though was pretty fun^^ (drunk grad is 4 LOOZERS!!!) Free food everywhere you turned, DDR, rub on tatooing, a cartoonist which drew umm... amusing things^^ And so forth... never bothered visited the tea leaf/tarot card reader though. Actually, during the hypnotist show, my friends and I hung out in the elevator for a couple hrs (of course NOW I know what the "trick" to hypnotism is like...)

Class of '06! Admitted, I'm graduating from college, but still. And my graduation went well, although the speaker kept telling a group of engineers and business majors about the wonders of technology, the state Superintendent of Public Schools (I go to a public university) raved about how wonderful our school and education were, and I was squished between two other people during a ceremony where hundreds of people graduated. The school band played (always a treat), the student representative talked about Homer Simpson, the name reader had a pleasant British accent, and the Chancellor kept his speech short. Plus I got to wear a hood and my family took me to an excellent Japanese restauraunt afterwards. All in all, quite enjoyable.

Wow... this was scary, because I think that someone spraypainted '06 and other things on someone's car... which was... odd. :eh: That's really mean for anyone to do.

Thank you so much Kiba-kun! ^_^

Yeah, I graduated too. Of course, since I've devoted a lot of time to speech and debate, my schoolwork has been on the back burner. I still have plenty of work to finish over the summer, but hopefully I can take it somewhat easy. I will be getting a job [hoping for something at the mall, maybe even Hot Topic] and starting up my own business on the side, focusing heavily on art, and hopefully going to Japan. Yes. JAPAN. All in all, I'm happy I've graduated.

yay for another speech giver! how many valedictorians did your school have? ours only has one val and one sal, we never have multiple ones because we go by overall GPA, such as 98.6 or something.

our school had two vals and one sal... my rival and i both had a GPA of 4.07... our school didn't do average grades like 99.2 or anything... although those would probably be really close, too... ^^

How did my graduation go?

Wellll....It went kinda like this.

I was so excited about graduating! That I couldn't really keep in step with everyone as we walked to "Pomp and Circumstance."

We had 5 valedictorians, (we go by overall gpa too...they all tied). but we don't do salutitorians..I don't think...

umm.. I had fun..except I made a HUGE mistake...at the end of the ceremony when we all tossed our caps in the air..I grabbed mine and just started walking...while I was SUPPOSSED to wait...until a certain row...was gone..so I ran across the gym floor to my friend and just walked with her...I was so about to cry...>.<

my friend won't stop bugging me about that..

Well the graduation has happened and I am now offically Alumni! It was really a memorable time. I sang in the senior choir and walked across the stage without falling over! YES! The thing was, people getting their diplomas soon became a popularity contest. Many people cheered for some people while hardly any cheered for others.

At the end, the mother of the kid that died in the car accident, accepted his diploma and gave a heart-wrenching speech. One thing she said, I will remember for the rest of my life, "Life is not about the breathing in moments, but moments that take your breath away."

My Grandma and my Uncle came down from VA to see it. It went very well overall!

Thank you to all of you who wished me well in this thread! I will be attending a University in Maryland this Fall... PM me if you want to know which one, and I may tell you,

What was the theme song for the Class of '06?
For the Class of '78 it seemed that just about everyone did their own version of
Theme From Mahogany aka Do You Know Where You're Goin' To?
I can still remember some of the words:
Do you know where you're goin' to?
Do you like the things that life has shown you?
Do you know?
Do you get what you're hopin' for?
What are you hopin' for?
Do you know?
etc.
Not exact but it has been awhile since I last heard it.
