In Middle School someone thought I was Russian, :eh: but I don't think it's that far off as I have 25% Czech/Slovak and 25% Lithuanian in me!

I'm Cappuchino (caucasian/filipino) and am frequently, though understandably, mistaken for anyone who speaks Spanish.

I really ought to learn.

NO, that's what happens to a man from Beijin when he gets caught in the middle of a conflagration in the ghetto. I suggest re-learning your jargon.

hmm....when I get really tan perhaps, but not usually. The only time I got mistaken for someone of another ethnicity(race sounds odd for some reason) was as a lil kid. My Mom tells a story that a doctor asked if I was Indian(like...not Native American, but from India). That's amusing. I had really curly dark hair and dark eyes as a baby. LoL.

HA! HA! HA!

I've been mistaken for hispanic , not recently though since I'm pale right now, because of my appearence. As for the last name, people have trouble pronouncing it, nobody understands me when I say it aloud half the time, and people have trouble spelling it, which I'll let slide because there are at least three different ways to spell it. All this is pretty funny because my last name is not hard to say or spell, its just rare.
I have family members named Casto, and they tell me people always look at their name and call them Castro.

I got the same thing, and my name is Fernando Rojas...distinctly Mexican, so I don't think they were paying attention.

I'm very white in both name and appearance, never been mistaken for anything else.

My dad however, despite being of entirely European decent and name, has really black hair and doesn't wear sunscreen in the summer so tans very, very dark, and has frequently been mistaken as Mexican when people see him in mid to late summer.

While I was in Rome someone came up to me and asked for directions and I was like.. "Uhhh I'm American. No Italian. Sorry." XD; I apparently look a little Italian, but the fact that is was evening may have had something to do with it.

I'm a genuine American mutt though XD;; I have Italian, Native American, Hugarian and Swiss heritage, but my last name is German bc my dad was adopted.

Not so much a race but a local maybe.
I was in Costa Rica one year and sitting with a few white kids and I suppose the waiter was more used to seeing a black person speak Spanish around there than a white one.

Back when I was about 17 and still living in Topeka KS.
When I was at the public library. A African American girl about 16 or 17 came up to me.
She explained she was doing a poll project for school. She wanted to know the percentages of African American teens and their grades.

I replied “Oh that’s cool.â€

I'm half Filipino and most of my life folks have thought I was Mexican. On another thread I posted a recent picture of myself, and one of the mods thought I was Native American. Most interesting one was during my time at a community college. One of my classmates in chemistry was Japanese and asked if I was a Hawaiian.

Nobody's ever said anything to me about it, if I have.

My father, however, has been mistaken for Spanish, Jewish, and Chinese at various times. xD

Though I am usually paler than a corpse I have been mistaken as a indian (native american) by a group of indians. It was pretty funny, and they were more than a little embarrased. I've also had someone ask if I was a jew. Pretty fun stuff.
