I can't dance, and I have no one to go with. I just think, in my case, it would be a waste of time and money. We are having a Senior Picnic in a week and will all be able to chat and have a good time there. I think the Prom is more of an excuse for the girls to dress up in pretty clothes.
What are your opinions?
EDIT: by the way... is the word "prom" an abbreviate for something... what does it mean?

Cap'n Nick wrote:I'd recommend going. It may not be all that great, but it's just one of those things that might give you a lot of "what ifs" when you're 35. Plus, if you do it right it can be a lot of fun. No girlfriend? No problem! Going with a girl that's just your friend is perfectly acceptable and can still be a lot of fun. After all, if the prom's just a glorified mating ritual then it's not worth your time. Dancing isn't an issue, either. Only a handful of people actually know how to dance. The vast majority will just be out there having seizures. So, find some fun people, prance around in your fancy pants and have a good time!

At that time, I did not feel it was right for me to implicitly endorse their actions by particpating in activities that were not necessary for my degree. I did not even attend my high school graduation ceremony.

I had no date for the night, nor did I have the grandest suit, nor can I dance nor am I the most popular. But I went, got together with all my friends, and had a lot of fun. Good food, good music, and just a whole night of fun that'll probably never ever happen again. A nice memory to keep.
