I... hate... spiders! >_<

Talk about anything in here.

Mesquitoes are part of God's creation. Not too many people are against killing them.

I don't really have a problem with spiders. I don't kill them unless I recognize that they're venomous. I don't even let my family members squash them if I can help it. They all go in little plastic containers and go right back outside where they can eat all the annoying insects.

Recently I've been a little more paranoid though. A good friend of mine was bitten by a brown recluse and the bite swelled up and got so hideous and...juicy. Ugh, no more details on that. Apparently when you're bitten by certain spiders, they leave a nice pheromone in you that attracts more spiders. The poor girl now has a feeding trail all down her right side. She's miserable but she kids with us and calls herself the "spider buffet."
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

2 Samuel 6: 21&22

"I am going to take this bucket of water and pour it on the flames of hell, and then I am going to use this torch to burn down the gates of paradise so that people will not love God for want of heaven or fear of hell, but because He is God."

Short answer, no, but this site does not allow theological debate, so I will not get into it. I will say, however, that you have used yet another logical fallacy. So, I will try no further to educate you.

Allow me to quote myself.

myself wrote:Let's just go ahead and say that this doesn't need to become an animal lovers vs. animal haters thread. So far we've been fine, but I just figure it's better to say this now so that everybody is aware that this isn't allowed to become a debate. If you like spiders, cool. If you don't like them, cool. Just lets not start pitting ourselves against eachother. Because in the end, animals aren't as important as people, so lets not let them get in the way of our relationships. Thanks guys.

Now, I thought this post was amply clear, but apparently I was wrong. So, I'll clarify by saying that if you disagree with the posts others make, you can ignore them. Anything beyond that will be a violation of my warning and will result in a strike. So, let's get back on topic and continue with a friendly conversation.

Thank you.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I actually don't kill mosquitoes. I just blow on them and they leave, or I don't go outside at night. But disease isn't a problem in my area.

Eeeeee, brown recluse can cause some serious damage...

If other people are allowed to present their opinion, I think I should be allowed to as well. ^^;;; Why is it different in my case?

Because this is a debate that we've been over time and time again, and only causes division. Therefore, I'm putting an end to it. Feel free to PM away, but I'm asking that you please refrain from interrupting the friendly and casual flow of this thread.

Mosquitos? I kill the nasty beggars. I don't like them sucking down my blood like beer. It's not right.

<mod snip: Refer to Yumie's warning. We're trying to cool it with the debate. Any futher issues should be taken to PM.>

I feel the need to add something to what Yumie has said. I don't say it because she's my sister. I say it because she's a staffer, and I feel that this needs to be said--

HoS, Yumie didn't say your name at all. She made a general statement to all those in the thread. There are those who disagree with you. There those whom you disagree with. She simply said "If you have a problem with someone else's opinions, let's just keep them to yourself." To suggest that she was just calling you down specifically when she did nothing of the sort, is unfair, and, in my opinion, somewhat disrespectful. She's just trying to keep the peace, and some times the Thumper philosophy is the best way to do it ("If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.")
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I don't mind spiders. There's one that hangs out in my bathroom...I haven't bothered it, it doesn't come out much, and I haven't been assaulted by gnats or flies yet this year, so it's doing some good.

Not so much those big black bees. They make me think of condensed round harbingers of doom.

Hehe. How in the world did this thread escape my attention until now? Anyways....

I used to be a huge arachnophobe. When my fight or flight response was activated, it was always fight when it came to spiders. I honestly don't know what happened when, but at some point the phobia left me. I really wonder what caused that... I've always found it weird.

If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things."

Okay Osaka, maybe I misunderstood, and I apologize. ^^;;; I just...don't really like it when someone is allowed to express their opinion, and when I express my opinion (which might happen to disagree with theirs) I'm usually the one who gets in trouble, so I may have assumed. ^^;;; It just seems kinda odd that only one side seems to be allowed to express their opinion, but I may be misunderstanding that, too...

Again I apologize if I offended any mods. I didn't mean to be disrespectful at all.

HoS, it's not that we're not permitting you to express your opinion. You can say, "I love spiders, and I don't ever kill them. If you'd like to know why, you can PM me," and then you've expressed your opinion and given others who are interested the chance to solicit your views on the subject. But to say, "I mean, just because you dislike something doesn't mean you can just destroy it," is making a controversial statement that most would view as requiring a response, a.k.a., starting a debate. If others come back in and say, "Nu-uh! You're so incredibly wrong! I believe you should kill any animal any time you want!" Then they are actively participating in the debate that you started, which is also not allowed. So, my warnings were not aimed at any one group, or intended to take away the priviledge of "expressing your views," but simply to limit the ways in which you express your views so that the peace is kept. Hopefully now everyone understands what I mean, so, as opposed to side-tracking this thread any further, if anyone has anymore questions or comments, you can feel free to PM me.
