Old Items you still use

The other day I was thinking about how my family use some pretty dated items that still work like the day we bought them.

This made me wonder about whether other people have similar items still in use. Share them here.

Old items my family or I still use:

1. Liquid paper (Pentel fine point correction pen) - bought 1995, still works! Usually these things don't last more than a year.
2. Faber-Castell DS05 mechanical pencil - bought 1980.
3. six-inch Rabone-Chesterman stainless steel rule - bought before I was born, I "inherited" it from my sister.
4. Fruit and vegetable knife - bought in 1974 for 1 Hong Kong dollar. Have not had to sharpen it.
5. My Citizen automatic watch. Bought 1978 (before I was born).

We got this really old can opener in my house...

And a 17 year old refrigerator and Sony Television

Really old soldering iron. And multimeter.

That's all I can think of now.

My family has a turn-over toaster made in 1910 that they still use. Only the plug and cord have been replaced.

Anyways, I've got an old brown fake alligator skin telephone from the late 70s or early 80s in my room that I still use. Aside from that... I still play my NES. ^_^

We've got our SNES, and an old tv to go with it. With the dials and knobs, no buttons. WHenever my friends come over, they can never figure otu how to turn it on.

Probably some ancient Christmas decorations, Bible we found in the attic that the previous owners probably left, and...not much else...
Not much (if any) in the line of antiques here.
There might be an old coin around here though.

We've got this old-ish appliance called a "Hot Shot" that heats up water and dispenses it directly into your cup of tea or hot chocolate. We bought it back in like, '96 or '97, and it still works wonderfully. Unfortunately, if it ever does break, we can't replace it, because those things aren't on the market any more.

We also have this lamp that's made from an old telephone. XD Some member of my family (a distant member...I don't remember his name) took an antique telephone (the kind where you hold part of it up to your ear and speak into the "base"...I forget what they were called) and re-wired it to make a lamp. It's pretty cool!

We have some kitchen tools that are pretty old, too...I couldn't tell you what they're called or how old they really are, but they're at least from the 70's.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot. My family has a very old iron, too...the kind you have to heat up in the fireplace before you can use it to iron clothes. XD Of course, we don't use it for anything other than decoration, so it may not really count. XD;

Aside from that... I still play my NES. ^_^

Yeah I sometimes pull mine out too to play... even though it freezes on games sometimes^^ (Just like my old Sega Genesis).

Either than that, don't have any really old items... although I want a new TV for my room since I have my parent's old one and it doesn't even go up to channel 70, nor have those coloured wire thingies that hook up to PS2s etc. :/ (We used to have a couple knobby TVs that didn't go up that high either, but those are long gone^^)

Also, I wear jeans and t-shirts that I first got when I was in junior high.

i have 10 fingers that are almost 2 decades old i use every day - got em all in 1986, and they are still working fine!

The american 2 and 3 for SNES. I wish I had those, that would be so awesome! But yeah, technically 4 and 6. I wasn't aware that 2 or 3 were ever released in the U.S. I've only seen emulations of them.

A water pitcher we have had since the 50s or 60s.
A refrigerator that came with the house we moved into in the 60s and still live in which we use for drinks and other things and its in the basement now.
My mother's sewing machines. One she had when she was a teenager and another she got back in the 60s.
Theres a few other things I have to think about.

Some of my tools are from the 50s, and we've got a secretary (furniture piece) from at least a century ago. I also have an old sony dual-cassette w/ CD player from, I dunno, maybe the 80s. My friend gave it to me years ago, and I use it as the speaker system for this computer. I don't know how old it is, but it's a MHC-1500. The CD player works intermittantly, I guess.

Oh I play with NES, too

Well, my cellphone can be considered pretty old.. It's Nokia 3310 and I got it in 2001. In this kind of country, where people (especially young people) get a new cellphone like every second year (I'm not lying!), it is kinda ancient.

Our house is from the 1940s/1950s.

We've got a electric kitchen knife that's from (I believe) the 70's. The things crazy old, but it cuts things as well as any horror movie villian.
