I said he wasn't a test tube CHILD. I never said he wasn't a test tube SOLDIER.

A test tube child is someone who is conceived through means other than sexual reproduction. Since Cloud had a real mother and father, he is not a test tube child.

True.

I find it odd how his father was NEVER explained. Or was he?

It`s been so long since I played through.

(Plus when I did, I was quite a youngster so the plot was really confusing).

I didn't understand why they called Cloud thier brother... he was just a human exposed to Mako energy... It was because he had the stigma right?

If you remember the flashback at Kalm, Cloud said his father died when he was very young.

EDIT:
I didn't understand why they called Cloud thier brother... he was just a human exposed to Mako energy... It was because he had the stigma right?

Well, there's that. But also, Cloud was infused with Jenova's cells after the incident at the Niebelheim reactor when he defeated Sephiroth. Hojo took both Zack and Cloud to the basement of the Shinra Mansion, where they were both infused with Mako and Jenova cells. Zack showed no reaction, and in fact his body rejected the Jenova cells. Cloud, however, showed great reaction to Jenova's cells. In fact, he had more of Jenova in him than anyone else with the Geostigma, which is why they called him their brother (all of this info is found in the flashback in the Shinra Mansion basement, as well as the books down there).

No, Cloud was NOT created in a test tube. You see his mom in the game and she is not Zack's mother. Zack's mother is still alive in Bone Village if I remember correctly. It's hard to tell what memories are Cloud's and which are his projections of Zack's memories, but I think the one you see in the flashback to Niblehem is his real mother.

But yeah, Nat is right. The reason they call Cloud "brother" is because he is also infused with Jenova cells. Jenova's like a starfish...it wants to reunite all its lost "children" which are actually pieces of it.

sorry sorry, i know he wasn't born that way, my previous post was rather long, and i was mainly focused on talking about his relationship/connection to the Kadaj group. But anyways, I was basically referring to Cloud's being infused with the Jenova cells and all things of that nature

Zack died at the mako reactor. I heard rumors that he was allive; but in the movie hes clearly dead.
I loved this movie it was soooo awesome. Me and a friend have been arguing for years over the correct way to pronounce Sephiroth and Ive finnally won. I wish Cloud had let Rufus explain how he survived. I wanted to know.

I don`t care what rumors take place. Zack IS DEAD.
In the game, Zack is shot in the head with a machine gun. I think he would be dead.
I think Square had no poaaible explanation for Rufus` survival thus resulting in Cloud`s interruption.

Regarding your spoiler: in the game you get shot with guns all the time and it only does some HP damage. Plus, in the movie Cloud receives a point-blank shot from Yazoo, who we can presume is packing a decently powerful weapon, and only bleeds somewhat. It seems to me that FF characters are significantly more robust than most.

Not that it matters. Because Zack is certainly dead.

USSR Girl wrote:At least he TRIED to save Denzel and the kids!

Well, they get their moment in the city battle and they're involved in the motorcycle chase. It is pretty obvious they're essentially good people. But they're also definitely not intended to be taken that seriously.

USSR Girl wrote:Hey Nat, doesn't it say ya gotta FORGIVE in order to be forgiven??? Huh? Huh? Besides...Tseng was mostly responsible for kidnapping Aries. Reno was simply doing his job like the good wittle commie-cutie that he is.

I thought Cloud did it mostly because Reno was being annoying, not because he hated him all that much. For example, before Cloud banged on the door Reno said, "Cus we're buddies, right?" In English I actually see the humor.

Tom Dincht wrote:Oh yes, Imagine how unrealistic that would be...

Think about he he survived every action scene. I think he has fallen farther than that.

Regarding this aspect: I don't think it was particularly well directed. However, I interpreted it so that there was a fair amount of time between when Cloud went past them and when the others hit the explosives. After all, we see the explosives on the ground alone and they did have a helicopter.

I thought that Yazoo`s weapon skimmed his head, but did hit part of his shades as the quickly shattered glass caused blood to be drawn.
Zack was on the ground the machine gun was aimed near his earlobe.
Ok I know that hes dead Im not disputing that Im just saying , for a while people were saying he was alive; but the way i remember it didn't...
didn't Sephiroth slash Zack and threw him down the stairs, then Cloud picked up Zacks sword attacked Sephiroth and got thrown into the life stream?
Its been years since I last played the game but I thought that was when Zack had died.

By the way what do you guys think about the wolf that kept appearing in the movie. Me and my friends all think that it symbolizes Cloud becomming like a "Lone Wolf"; but im not sure if there's anything else to it.

Mr. SmartyPants wrote:I thought the movie was mediocre at best. The story was pretty bad. Where did Kadaj and the others come from? They just.. appeared

They also had some funky Oedipus Complex "KASAAN!!!!!"

I was highly dissapointed how they gave the most screentime to only Tifa, Cloud, and Vincent (and the Turks) but none for the other characters! I was expecting to see Barret and Cid, Yuffie, etc to have their own awesome battles.

Guess not

The ending was pretty lame too. A pool party? Come on... Well it is a pool party that can cure like cancer I guess... but it was still mediocre

I *almost* agree 100%. I honestly thought the movie was sub-par rather than mediocre. They could have done much better. The entire movie is pretty much fanservice, albeit different from what we normally label as fanservice.

I saw this movie a long time ago, and I was very disappointed, especially after the metric crap-ton of hype this movie got. It was simply eye-candy, and I'd rather have a story than some pretty pictures. That's exactly why novels don't have pictures in them - because we grew out of picture books when we were 6.

The fights felt as though they were put in because they needed *something* to keep people watching (even though the fights were bland anyway). Then there's that whole thing where... there isn't a story. At all.

And I'm not even going to start on how badly they bastardized Yuffie. I almost cried when I saw how little of a part they gave to her.

And WiseDragon, Zack didn't die at the Mako Reactor in Nibelheim. Zack dies later, as illustrated in both Last Order and the cutscene that you view in the Shinra Mansion in-game.

Everyone, on disc 1 there's that reminiscence of FFVII feature that summarizes the game in like 22 minutes. They show the scene where Zack dies, so check that out if you want the final verdict on the matter :-p The feature is quite handy, as I've shown it to friends that wanted to see AC but never played the game

However, the two seem to conflict. In the game, Zack clearly dies on the outskirts of Midgar, gunned down by Shinra soldiers, who leave his body there (and decide Cloud is too out of it to be a threat).

In Last Order, it seems that Zack dies in the back of the truck on the way to Midgar, shot by a sniper (Zack jumped in front of Cloud, taking the bullet for him). Though it isn't for sure Zack died there instead of at Midgar in Last Order, it certainly makes it appear that way (and the sniper thing never happened at all as far as the game showed).

As far as I'm concerned, the game is canon and the OAV is artistic embellishment, meaning there was no sniper when they were in the truck, and Zack died on the outskirts of Midgar.

No, you're absolutely right. I know the two conflict, but I was just citing both sources there. I was jus trying to say that Zack did not die in the mako reactor.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet (I'm sure it has on one of the threads), but I'm glad the Turks kept their humorous role in the movie. If you'll all think back, the Turks were always kinda comic relief in the game as well. Always messing up, getting beat up, ect. XD;;

Yeah, they were on top form. My friend (who I was watching it with) was like 'they're rubbish fighters!'. I had to remind him that if they were real they could kick everybodies butts. We were inspired by AC to have a cosplay party (my very first ^^), I'm gonna go as Reno :D
