How does one effectively battle against stuffy noses? Especially during allergy season?

I CAN'T BREATHE!! So I breathe with my mouth. But that gets uncomfortable plus I have to swallow or else my mouth oversalivated. But when I do my ears pop! It's a cycle out to kill me.

I absolutely refuse to use nasal sprays XD They feel so weird! And they run inside my nose and are more of an annoyance than anything.

1. Get Vic's Vapor Rub
2. Get a nice bowl of hot water. It MUST steam
3. Dissolve Vic's Vapor Rub into hot water
4. Stick head over bowl of water and breathe.

XD I'm not sure if that's an example of how NOT to use vapor rub, but it worked for me.

I wonder if inserting mentholated things in my nose would help

Maybe some mentholated cream. Too bad I have none.

You know, now that I think of it...in ye olde days before vapor rub, just sticking your head and breathing in warm water helped, too.

Hmm.... Cocaine should clear that right up.

Nasal sprays work well, but they do feel really nasty, I don't blame for staying away from them, but they do work.

WAHAHAHAHA!!! NOTHING WORKS!!! MEDS DON'T WORK! BLOWING YOUR NOSE DOESN'T WORK!!! NOTHING WORKS!!!! WAHAHAHAHA!!
And no, I'm not an insane person who says random things.... today. I have allergies too. We just got air conditioning yesterday, so my nose has been stuffy all morning. That's due to living in FL, though, I guess. But I have no ways of getting rid of the stuffy, except for sitting next to the sliding glass door, where the sun shines through.

Yeah, I got allergies too, I know how you feel. -_- So far the only med that I've found works (for me anyways) is Singular, the only thing that stinks is that it puts ya to sleep pretty quickly. Even though it's supposed to be non-drowsy.

I hate that feeling too...but the saline ones work and there aren't any side affects n_n

There's some kind of tablet that you place in the shower to help with that sort of problem...WalMart has it and I've seen it, but I can't remember the name of it.

Kokoro's got some good advice too...I've tried that as well, and it works.

nooo if it's allergies take an anti-histamine. benadryl does the trick for me. if your allergies are bad, talk to your doctor. my doctor prescribed some allergy meds :) then they were available over the counter (claritin) so i didnt need the prescription anymore.

ANTI-HISTAMINE NEVER WORKS FOR ME!!!

Like seriously, medicine never works for me... its crazy. Every single allergy medicine has never worked for me.

The menthol is not working anymore! The vaporrub is rendered useless!

Sudafed PE or cheaper versions usually work pretty well for me. But beyond that, I can't think of anything.

I've been getting colds very frequently this year, and get horribly congested when exposed to wood smoke (which living near the mountains really helps), so I totally sympathize with you.

Congestion always makes my cold worse. I get so stuffy that I sleep with my mouth open to breathe, and get all dried out in the night, making my sore throat 10 times worse. And my whole face feels tired. It's either that, or my nose is so runny that I'm blowing my nose every 5 minutes.

I heard a cheap way of clearing a stuffy nose is to crew two Altoids peppermints candies.
I chew four of them to clear my throat. I even like their sour candies too
