anime that could work... as a play?

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Sun Apr 30, 2006 2:53 pm

So I was just thinking last night about this, after watching a quite boring play called "Wedgie" (maybe some of heard of it?) and I was just thinking at how little action was actually involved in it... at least I was anticipating for more. Also, in my .hacking mood with replaying the game I had this werid idea at how .hack//SIGN can almost work as a play... I mean there's some action in it, PLUS enough dialogue to make it into a play^^ ...could work, just have some expensivish costumes (at least they'd take a while to make) and maybe some good lighting/smoke effects to make things happen like a "gate out" sequence...

Can you think of any other anime that could work as a play that people might actually want to go out and watch?

I know in Japan they've made some plays made from anime like Inuyasha, and musicals like Sailor Moon... not really sure how that would look like though^^ Seena short commercial on it, and werid seeing characters like Zoicite and Neflite getting down, and even doing a couple backflips 0_0.

oook first off i'd like to say that the idea of .hack//sign being a play is pretty wierd, and how would they do the monsters without them looking cheesy or the characters looking like cheapo cotumes but if they could pull it off it would be pretty cool.

Maybe fruits basket, if done right that could be cool.

Actually, with just a few changes to the script, you might be able to do Millennium Actress. It would require some creative use of lighting and stage direction, but otherwise wouldn't be impossible.

Hmm, it might not be anime, but I think that Imadoki could make a good play. It lacks all the glitzy staging that most anime/manga would require, and it's such a great story!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
