yeah its crazy,

( | _ | )
like the applewhite crew that killed themselves in rancho something in California a few years ago i read some news articles in Japan it happens all the time and by what ive read theres websites that people go on and they talk about killing themselves and stuff and then get together somewhere and just kill themselves. it happens as much as suicide bombers in the middle east, ive read recent ones of attacks in israel and its crazy its like they jsut do it without notice and nobody knows who or when it will happen. kids, I have concluded that it is satan behind this madness and his antichrist dwells in unbelievers worldwide. my heart goes to those about to die.. :pinned:

Episode 8 of Paranoia Agent featured 3 people who randevouzed from the internet met up and tried to each commit suicide together. I am for certain that episode was some sort of social commentary put in my Satoshi Kon.

Volume 1 of Confidential Confessions manga had a story of two teens that attempt suicide. It had a strong anti-suicide message to it

Head to your local Barnes and Nobels, Waldenbooks, or B. Dalton Book Seller. They shuld have it on the shelf, but if they don't-- ask them to special order it. I would warn you, however, that from what I've heard, Confidential Confessions is pretty adult. It deals with many very serious issues, and some of those issues lend themselves to content issues (stories concerning prostitution, if I remember correctly.) I might be wrong about the details on this one, but I'm pretty sure.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I remember that. It was so sad in the end... All of the CC mangas were, though.

CC has 5 volumes if I'm correct (that's all I've ever seen), and I have 4 of them. But they do cover many of the social problems people have, such as suicide (obviously), drugs, prostitution, bullying, child abuse, homosexuals, and whatever else is in volume 5 (that's right, that's just the first 4). Every book is a stand alone, as far as I know, and book 4 is a compilation of 4 mini-stories. Most of the stories deal with the problems pretty realistically (and graphically) although there's really no nudity at all, but there is some rather risque stuff. All in all, it's a pretty decent read, although they can be pretty depressing. I just never got around to finishing off the series.

But, back on topic, I've never really understood how people can be pro-suicide. I don't think I'll ever understand what could motivate a person to end their lives themselves. It seems like such a waste to me. I heard one time about a group called 'Right To Die' or something like that, and they're campaigning for suicide to be legal, and one of their primary examples of uses for legalizing it was so that people could kill themselves on stage at concerts. Go figure.

Wow... just wow... (insert comment here) :/
I sort of find the idea of "legalized suicide" as an oxymoron though. :/

Yes, I've seen this. Not the movie, but the report of Japanese suicidals has appeared on TV news report. It said that some teens (emo, I believe) have been sharing their methods of suicide that will be carried out through e-mails. I'm not sure if what I heard is accurately related to this, but it's a guess.

Suicide is easier for some to understand than others. I, myself have a very sardonic personality and am definitely attracted to the gothic lifestyle. I've never been much of a group person and I am usually not one of the "main characters" of any group's story. If it weren't for my relationship with Jesus Christ, those tendencies could have led me down a much darker path indeed. How does one who sees the dark side of any situation face each new day without the joy inherent in serving the living God?

i heard of some group in florida i think that let people kill themselves at their concert and also someone told me marilyn manson picks one person at every one of his concerts to go on stage and kill him or herself.

i.d like to go to Japan though and teach youth and old about life and that they should value it more than we do cause we're just as bad here in the US we kill ourselves slowly everyone does its nice to know God is gracious and i choose to serve him.

the destructive tendanceies of mankind are truly terrifying. What we do to ourselves...each other. If God does not come back soon then we are all trully destined for destruction.

Voicing my opinion, suicide is an extremely despicable act. All life is sacred, mortal or immortal alike. I still find it hard to believe that some people are still not content with life.

OK, about the Marilyn Manson thing....not that I support him at all, but do you have some sort of reliable first-hand source to back that claim up? It seems to me like if he was doing that sort of thing it'd be all over the news and the police would stop his concerts.

It's really sad about the teens committing suicide...India has a lot of a problem with that, too. When I lived there, during the exam season...it seemed like every week there were new reports of kids getting bad grades and committing suicide over it. Japan seems to have a history off suicide, too...really, it's sad.
