Mr. SmartyPants wrote:They are called Yan-Yans, and they are a deceiving product! You'd expect the icing to be filled up all the way! But it stops half-way down! That's half the amount of icing you'd expect!

I took a picture of it, but i deleted it earlier. So I can't find it

Edit: here you go Image
Also comes in strawberry and vanilla! The vanilla has chocolate sticks!
Ah, domo MSP!

These things beat Pocky in terms of the icing flavor. But the sticks tend to break off when you try to dip them into the filling (which is why I like Pocky's "pre-icing" method).

My personal favorite is strawberry, thought I also can't resist the vanilla flavor either!

When the anime club I belonged to use to travel to Animazement, I had suggested that we find a Japanese restaurant to eat dinner after we got down to the hotel on Thursday. First time we checked one place out it was a all sushi carry out. Everyone decided against it and went to a steak place near by.
The next time we found a place past the airport just outside Raleigh. Twice when we went to Animazement we went to this restaurant. Only place I ever learned how to use chop sticks and it was great. Thou I had a time sitting on the floor to eat one time with my shoes off.

I kinda discovered ramen through anime. I had actuallt looked at in on store shelves and thought "Oh noodles, whatever..."
But after watching a bit of Ranma 1/2, namely Shampoo I was like "Hum, so what is it exactly anywho." so I tried it and it was good and so now I like it.

I have to say that I watching anime inspired me to go to this Japanese restaraunt called I Iove Sushi and because of that I found the delights of Yakisoba and tofu, so again its kinda because of anime that I like japanese food.

Oh and Yan Yan are so yummy. I used to get them a lot when I lived in the Philippines but i can't get them anymore here in Britian. Never been able to get pocky though. Sounds kinda nice.
Will insert something intelligent here later... maybe

I've always loved sushi, ramen, and Japanese food since I can remember. But, I started getting into Japanese candies from watching animes (pocky of course) at age 10. ^^
I ♥ my family, they take me out for sushi all the time since everyone in my family likes it! Hehe. And yes, I live off ramen (specially that creamy chicken flavored kind... mmmmmm)

You can get Pocky at Wal-Mart. REALLY CHEAP. Don't... buy it at Suncoast (everything there is too expensive) or any place that caters to otakudom because... well, it's too expensive.

As for the topic, anime has inspired me to eat udon.

Wow. I think i am becoming Japanese. Even my mom is noticing it. I spend all my time listining to j-pop, singing along in crouds so no one knows what i am saying, staring at my self in the mirror in my mother's Kimono, while eating with chop sticks for almost every meal. Not to mention i have been eating sushi and ramen for like every day of my life. All sinse a few years ago when i started watching anime and reading manga. I am such a loser. ^.^

If you start thinking with collectivist values, than you can talk, though emulation is ok (best exercised in groups that tolerate eccentricism). Japan has it's upsides and downsides much like any culture, but the more you learn of it, the more you will find that sometimes you'll prefer a more American attitude torwards a subject, while sometimes you will think that Japan is onto something on other subjects. J-pop's cool, but there's a lot more music out there that's worth listening to, even if you still keep it Japan themed (i.e. excellent traditional music on the koto or zen flute, cyberpunk influenced stuff like The Future Sound of London's My Kingdom single (mini-symphony is more like it)). Don't use chopsticks on dishes that don't suit it (buffalo wings? etc.). Mix the best of both worlds. Whatever you do, be true to yourself authentically.

Oh, as to the topic on hand, most Japanese foods I'll eat from time to time were actually introduced to me in Japanese classes rather than anime. I like chocolate pocky about as much as any candy bar, so I'll eat that when a good opportunity rises. I will however make a policy that if I buy a good anime or manga that I'll buy a Hi-Chew and eat it while viewing or reading to improve my enjoyment, works like a charm (thanks for the tip, MorbidOutlook.com ).

I liked chinese/asian food before I even got into anime in the first place. It has, however, introduced me to certain types of asian food that I didn't know of before.
