Mispronounciations as a child.

I grew up with books, so even to this day I have pronunciation issues with words that I'd read for years but had never heard in actual speech.

This first became apparent to me in 8th grade when I, thinking I was smarter than another student, attempted to correct his pronunciation of 'bosom', and got laughed at by pretty much the entire class.

When I was little, I was under the impression that the province of Alberta looked like a giant piece of cheese with a bite taken out of the lower left hand corner. So, whenever I'd see a map of Alberta I'd point at it and try to say "Piece of cheese!" but it would come out "Peat 'n' keys!"

Hmm, I know I used to mispronounce lots of things, but the only thing I can remember now is saying 'liberry' instead of 'library'.

I used to think that "Ceiling Fans" were "Fan Ceilings."

I couldn't pronounce my L's very well, once I asked my uncle if he knew where my "yittle, yellow yion" was when I lost it.

Also, when I was much, much younger, I thought "lightsaber" was "life saber."

I've heard "light saver" and "life saver". Because it can save your life! But wait, I thought that was a breath mint...

I would pronounce the world "yellow" as "lalo." I'm sure there are others, but that's the only one my parents won't let me forget.

That rendition of The Phantom was adorable. *applause* I have this cousin who used to hang around alot when I was little. We were driving down the road one day and she asked me to say truck. I was 2 or 3 and let's just say, it didn't come out as "truck". Swearing toddlers are quite amusing. Oh, and another cousin of mine says this..."My name is Yogan, with an L".

I had a trouble with my r's and pronounced it more w's (although in old home movies, I couldn't really tell). Called my cousin Sarah "Sawah" apparently :/ ...the speech therapist was a scary guy though, pulling me randomly out of class v_v Heh, I know this one girl that looks about 7 that was in kid's church and I actually found it pretty annoying when she talks (has a BAD problem with it^^) Then when we were doing this Bible reading game she was like "I can't read" and I was like "... (that's not a good thing)" :/

My brother used to say vati for waffles, and minga-mama for grandmama. XD I can't think of any of my mispronunciations right now, even though I know I have tons. I'll have to come back and add some when I remember them!

Pasqetti instead of spagetti and I used to say my cousin's name as Lathaniael instead of Nathaniel and instead of Uncle Andy I said..unquandy which i still call him now ^^ cause..it stuck ^^ oh and i remembered..my friend patricia..was pashasha ^^

My little brother couldn't say his L's and called the cereal wucky charms. XD I don't know what I mispronounced...

But I used to drink a cup of water before I fell asleep and say "Ahhhh refweshing" because that's what my mom would say when she drank something. XD

Whenever we got a new puppy and it used to cry and shiver my mom would tell us to give it a while so the puppy can get accustomed to us but my brother would say that "The puppy needs to get a customer to us."

When I was younger I couldn't remember the difference between an itch and a scratch so I would say that "My leg is scratching me."

Up until like a year ago, I pronounced ignorant with a hard o, like in door. I still can't live that down.

My two year-old brother mispronounces a lot of things, but somehow it came about that eggs are "woe-woes." XD

Ah, another one: I thought cavalry (as in horses) was the same as Calvary (in pronounciation and spelling, just different meaning). "Infantry and calvary".

You know, I've always used the right one, but I never actually noticed that there was a difference until now.

I vaguely remember getting into arguments with my cousin about how guitar was pronounced "git-tire"... And up until recently, I pronounced ancient as "ank-shunt".

I used to mispronounce my name, Joshua, as "Fandango."

Even today I sometimes still make this fatal error.

Can you take nothing seriously? There is NO possible way you could have gotten those two mixed up, and I have never heard of someone mispronouncing their own name.

Anyway, back on topic: I think my most used screw up was calling 'animals' 'aminals'.
