Who gives the best anime/manga reviews?

Postby rocklobster » Sun Apr 16, 2006 9:00 am

I think the best are from:
  • Gypsy (although I disagree with her review of Project A-ko. I give it an 8 myself.
  • Mangafanatic
  • CDLViking
  • Rev. Doc
  • That Dude
  • shoorajin
  • true_noir_chloe
  • Ashley
  • myself (okay, cheap plug!) ;)

I dunno, this can lead to more favoritism...

I appreciate that you find our reviews helpful, but it should be remembered that it isn't a competition. We're simply trying to do our part to serve the community.

I chose this thread because I wanted to know who serves as the best model for newbies who want to try their hand at this review thing.

AnimeJump does. ANIMEJUMP!

Also, Zac Bertschy is pretty good, despite my extreme distaste for the man's attitude and inability to conduct himself in a civil manner.

So, no, I'm not voting for any CAA filks. Sorry. ; )

Honestly I agree with the other CAAers with this. This is not a good thread to start, where it seems to flame/ show favoritism to certain people. Honestly, this :

true_noir_chloe (too bad he/she is banned )

Was rather tacky and rude to the people you personally didn't like.

This is a thing that involves a person's personal opinion and not necessarily needs to be shared with everyone on CAA.

Well if that WAS the case then maybe he should have said it in a nicer way.

Or maybe it was tacky and rude. =(

Just so we can dispense with the he/she, true_noir_chloe is a woman.

As to reviewers, I've never really read the reviews here. My tendency is to just get personal recommendations from people I know.

I'd like to request that all mention of banned members and the curcuimstances surrounding those members exit from the CAA scene die down. We're just giving a thread about people who we believe contribute a lot to CAA through the detail of their reviews.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

It's okay. I've gone ahead and snipped the little phrase that was causing trouble.
