Oh, and could someone please explain SNOT to me? (It's a building technique. I'm not sure if I've been using it without knowing the term for it, as everybody seems to know the definition/explanation except me.)

I was (and still am) A lego fan. Every time I walk past the Legos at the store I am oh so tempted to blow $100 on a big old technic set.

We have a ton of Legos at home. And every once in a while we will get them out and I go crazy.

aww me and my brothers used to play legos ALL the time. We'd get the official sets and my brother would put them together and they'd sit there looking pretty for awhile (or we'd play with the people in it) but then we'd take it apart and put all the pieces in the color-coded bins (we had SOOO many legos) and we'd use all our legos to build awesome ships and stuff to play with... the best part about legos is making your own stuff. isn't that kind of the point with legos? after you get tired of the premade thing you make your own stuff....

I haven't played with legos in forever though.

Oh oh oh! I like legos! I still have a big chest full of them in the spare room and when I'm bored I pull them out and make a big mess and never really get anything besides a big mulitcolored blob built

As for your question, SNOT stands for Studs Not On Top. This is a building technique that a lot of LEGO fans like to use, as it renders the tops of their models all smooth and sleek-looking. The easiest way is to use flat LEGO tiles on top of regular LEGO bricks / plates to make the model comform to SNOT.

Advanced methods include using special bricks where LEGO studs are at right angles to each other on a single brick. I haven't attempted doing SNOT models using the latter method, so I'm just waffling on. LOL.

the best part about legos is making your own stuff. isn't that kind of the point with legos? after you get tired of the premade thing you make your own stuff....

Some friends of mine, strangely enough, never built with their sets!!! If they got a bucket of random pieces they'd use that, but they never NEVER EVER disassembled an actual model. I always was shocked by that, since I don't think I've ever left an official model together for more than a few minutes. (Seriously.)

Really? I wasn't really sure if I liked the Bumblebee - I suppose the thing that galls me the most about it is the lack of full hip articulation, but that doesn't really come across in a picture, does it?

I'm working on another, larger mech now... I hate how I only have 'old-skool' colors like Red/Black, etcetera. Mechs look so much better with bley and brown.

It's hard to get the first few mechs we do exactly the way we want. It's a bit like drawing, comes with practise.

You could always bulk buy grey bricks from the LEGO site, but that may be too expensive an option.

There are so many brilliant mechs out there, and it's easy to say that each one is awesome, but that one really is cool. It's quite minimalist as far as armoring goes, which is a nice change. The jointed cockpit is quite neat, too.

Not so impressive, but I like the color scheme and it's the guy's first mech, so all things considered it's pretty neat:

There is a LEGO Star Wars Republic Cruiser. LEGO made it as a one-off to help raise funds for hurricane Katrina disaster victims (if I remember correctly). I think it got sold on eBay for something like 31,000 USD!

Wow, LEGO yay! i used to have great buckets full of teh stuff... i loved it. but then we gave it all away to my little cousins & stuff. i used to make all sort of cool stuff with it.. especially since i was such a big star trek fan i'd make starships out of the stuff. was so much fun. i wish i stil had lego now. tho at least it was used to get someone else into the world of LEGO. i had a big mass of standard parts plus a bunch of the sets from space, pirates, knights tons of different types. and had a bunch of TECHNIC stuff as well.
