Show us your accent (Part II)

Talk about anything in here.

Postby mastersquirrel » Thu Apr 06, 2006 8:16 pm

I felt like recording something today, and after watching another episode of Whose Line (Notice that the grammar is correct!!) I got an idea. And from that idea is born a compilation of three of my favorite Colin Mochrie quotes. And thus I present:

The 6 o'clock News

EDIT: It seems I messed some other things up, so I fixed their spelling. (Happy now Rex!? :P)

Maybe try saying a sentence CR. That would work better. You said 'Noarlunga' the right way! (It's an Aboriginal name for a suburb here)

I just did the recording of the two original lists on the first post of this thread. It is all in one MP3 file. I have no idea how to classify my accent. So, I am interested in your opinions.

Unless I'm missing something, I've got a pretty generic American accent. *shrug* Oh, and here's a special little extra for the Bump Thread regulars:

I'm suddenly realizing that I say mischievous, amen, vase and a couplea other words really, really oddly. Hey! But odd pronunciations of roof and garage aren't just a Canadian phenomena! :grin:

It's actually everybody else that says stuff really oddly. We want to hear yours, teh LQ!

CR-chan: good to hear your voice!
roof = ruff?
sorry = surri? :P

Omega Amen: you have a good media voice, I think. I can't really tell American accents apart that well...

Rex: "...and this is a cruel, cruel word: Noarlunga." XD (or maybe it was cool, cool word?)
You speak rather softly, Rex. Good 'Forum Wars' thing! :)

I just listened to Rex's and OmegaAmen's because those are the only two whose yousendit files have not yet expired... Both of you seem to have good speaking voices, though I agree with Warrior4Christ that you speak softly, Rex, lol. I dunno if it was because you were trying not to be loud...

Great job guys! I may or may not do this...

I do speak pretty softly. But it was even more so on those recordings, since Mom and Dad were upstairs and I didn't want to wake them up and have them wonder why I was talking to my computer. :sweat:
No, it was cruel, cruel of you to put a secret message there. :p I almost didn't see it~
And did I even come close to pronouncing Noarlunga right? XD

I want to record something a bit more "conversational", since my reading voice is horrible. I kind of slur my Rs and basically sound slightly drunk when reading...

I thought as much. It did sound like you were trying to make your voice quieter for some reason. It's understandable! :thumb:

I have no idea what that word even means. This is the first time I have ever seen it it my life... I'm not even sure if it exists :eh:
