I requested a ban because I didn't even want to be tempted to post... I like argu- er- debating people XD. I didn't get on the computer so much, because I was banned from CAA. Most of my time is spent foruming.

I actually seriously considered asking to be banned back in January. I have serious issues with procrastination and starting projects, and I often found that the CAA was turning into my favored form of procrastination whenever I was stressed about Design projects. My marks were suffering but I was still having a hard time stepping away from the CAA altogether. But I was worried that people might seriously misinterpret me being suddenly banned.

So I PM'd several of the friends that I had made and explained the situation. I explained the reasons for my absence and asked that they hold me accountable if I should log in before the end of the school year. It's amazing how effective it was to know that people were praying and watching out for me if I was to slip.

And I actually did make it three months without logging in, though I did recently relapse for the 'Fave Artists' thread. But hey, school is out in less than three weeks, so I think I did pretty good ^^;

Plus I'm finding that I am now able to spend shorter periods of time online, which is nice.

Okay, I don't know if anyone else has said anything like this or not, but...

Let's say you're an alcoholic. Would you put bottles of liquor all over your house and go in bars to remind you that you're not supposed to drink? No. Because 1: You are trying to kind of... forget about drinking as much as you can, and 2: You don't really have very much self control. And sometimes the best way to get control is to get rid of temptation as best you can. If that makes sense...

It's probably been said here earlier, but it's still what I believe. If you're not gonna be around, don't request to be banned. Unless of course there are other online factors that come into play, like chatting and such.

May you please read what other people have said who support requested banning? I don't feel like saying it again. :P

Personally I support people who want self-banning. I've been considering it for the time around finals, but want to wait to see how badly I may or may not be addicted at that time. This is both for staying healthy by not staying up too late during that time, and so that I won't be tempted to get on right before or during a class. This week I've stayed up until 2 on two different days, but I hadn't done my homework yet so I had to get up at 6 the next mornings in order to finish in time. This isn't an odd week for me at all. Also, I take notes on my computer in the class I'm doing worst in. I've frequently been on CAA during that time, all but ignoring the lecture. Usually I go through periods of addiction to either forums or television for about 1/3 of any given year. The television one I can get over easily for some reason, but Internet is tough.

I would self ban to see if people miss me or not. And then come back and see if people are happy or don`t care (EDIT: Sorry, I`m not implying that i would want to do that, I just think that would be a motive for some who feel they contribute nothing to CAA and feel no one likes them. With this atmosphere, it`s not likely, I just meant forums in general.)

Or I could just go with ShatterHeart, I mean Ark, and change my username.
