Do you nap?

Postby Allegro » Sat Apr 01, 2006 9:57 pm

Do any of you guys have a tendency to take naps when you feel tired during the day? Or do you avoid them in hopes of keeping your sleep patterns consistent?

I take naps quite rarely, and only in cases where I feel really out of it mid-day.

Waking from a nap does feel a little weird, especially when you realize that daylight still exists. I recently I took a long, two hour nap around the 4 PM point. The funny thing was, I woke up at 6 PM and I thought it was morning already!

(By now, this is probably my third or fourth thread on sleep. I guess the topic of sleeping is something I always think about when I am awake.)

XD

I love naps. I take them whenever I can. The only problem is is that I don't often have the time for them. Last week though was pretty darn bad, and I napped a lot in order to get just barely by. I took three naps in one day (two for 30 minutes and 1 for an hour) and was still barely functioning.

We have an entire lounge in our Union building devoted as a space for students to nap or have serious quiet time. It's full of couches and chairs, all very comfy. It has such a quiet atmosphere that people almost tip-toe while walking through it. I love that room.

Yes, If I Ever Feel Tired and I Wasn't Doing Anything At The Time, I Would Normally Go Take A Quick Nap...

and Sometimes If My GF Was/Is Over I Would Nap With Her On The Couch :P

Depends on if I got much sleep the night before. If I only get a couple hours sleep...then yes, I nap whenever I can. Or if I am sick I nap a lot. Most of the time though, I never have time to nap.

I like to nap about 2-6 or so for maybe an hour or two when the bloodsugar is at its low point in the day. Depends on how I feel. I probably nap too often.

Sometimes I do on the bus... but only if I have a window seat and rest my head on my arm so it can't fall any further under gravity.

Does anyone else find it amusing to watch people fall asleep in lectures, or on the bus, or whatever, only to wake themselves soon after by their head dropping. Then they wake up and fall asleep again about 10 seconds later. XD

I do when I can, but I never have time for it anymore. I have a problem making myself go to sleep at night, so the only opportunity I have to catch up on rest and rejuvinate my poor abused body is when I take a nap later during the day. Sometimes I'll take a nap on my days off because I'm bored and don't have anyone to hang out with until they get off of work later that night. I love sleeping anyway, lol, just can't seem to do it at night.

And yes, watching people fall asleep at school/work/anywhere is hilarious. Especially when they twitch or jerk in their sleep and wake themselves up with it.

No naps for me. though I have tried, I just can't seem to fall asleep during the day. like, it isn't already hard enough for a night owl to go to sleep at night. but, how about if I wake up at 12:00 in the afternoon? would that be considered a nap or just not waking up? XD;

*sigh* I nap quite a bit these days, but it's a very bad thing. You see, I lay down for 20 minutes, and when I wake up I'm even more tired. So the twenty minutes become 45 minutes, which become and hour, so forth and so on.

For that reason, I only nap on days when I can afford to loose an hour or two.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Of course that's the reason why we have such boring sermons to help us catch up on our sleeping when we're in church. It's also the reason schools hire so many boring teachers so students can have the appropiate usage of classtime in sleeping! :thumb:

Ohhhh! That's why! Whew! I don't feel guilty anymore!

I take naps every day! I work at night (Sprint PCS Call Center) so I need to build my energy through the day! So I nap for most of the morning! Dealing with crazed Sprint customers requires a vast ammount of energy!

I can never relax enough to fall asleep during the day. The only time I'll nap is if I'm feeling really poorly.

I take a nap almost everyday in my last class of the day; AP biology. It's horrible.
Other than that, I don't nap unless I'm really sick or exhausted. I managed to take one today because I haven't made it to bed before about 1 or 2 in the morning for the past two weeks but that only lasted around thirty minutes and now I have an enormous headache. >.<
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

If you want to put it that way. I fall asleep in nearly EVERY single one of my chemistry classes & lectures. It's horrible as you put it >_> Luckily I'm still passing. Good thing I got the best science teacher ever.

I used to see many people do this in college, and it's usually on the day after working on some big project overnight. Nobody's the same when they cram on work and it's always apparent with the things they do in class. :)

I avoid naps when possible, but will take 20 min if necessary. Once in a while, though, 20 min expand in an Osaka-ish fashion and it becomes a few hours. XD

I nap instead of eating lunch at school. I'm never hungry enough to eat the frightening cafeteria food, so I retreat to the girls' locker room and sleep on my athletics bag for about 25 minutes. :)

I also accidentally fall asleep on a regular basis after school almost every day. Maybe I have narcolepsy.

I don't know if it actually counts as napping, but I usually get to sleep sometime between 2:00-3:00 am. Then I wake up with my wife, and see her off to work, then go back to sleep. Hey! I need at least eight hours. I just get them at two seperate times in the day.

I've done that a few times. Well, maybe more than a few times. I just can't seem to stay awake while being lectured to in spanish. XD

Other than that though, I really don't take any naps. I just can't fall asleep at will.

I take occasional naps throughout the day. The issue is that my day involves highschool. Thus I usually end up falling asleep during my first class: History Topics, my third class: Geometry (not good the guy next to me likes to keep me up, by poking my sides) and History in the afternoon. On sundays, though. I like to take a short afternoon nap on my living room floor in the sun, quite literally a cat nap

YES I DO! I love naps. But my mommy told me not to nap anymore because it gives me energy to stay up later. And she wants me to go to bed earlier. =P But I also sleep with I'm stressed, sad, etc. ^^
