Hey everyone! Kitchan here! ^_^ I was just wondering if any of you guys have songs that your parents sang to you or with you as a kid?

If you do, and you know them, post em!

This is gonna make me sound really silly. But I guess I absolutly loved Cher music when I was little. My mother loves reminding me this infront of large groups of people.

I'm sorry, I tried to not laugh, but... Don't feel bad, though. My sister had me dancing to Madonna when I was a wee tyke in the 80's. "Like a Virgin:" yeah, she had me watch the video so much that I even did the little faint and sigh move that she does. Terrible.

But my mom always sang "You are my sunshine" to me. She still signs birthday cards with a little note saying I'm still her sunshine. "Awwww!"

My father plays guitar and had a book of Jim Croce songs he liked when I was a kid. So he used to play "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" for me (editing out the swear word in the first. lol.). Of course, as a young boy, songs like these really appealed to me. I still remember the choruses from both songs.

I also recall "You Are My Sunshine". From my mom, of course.

My mom sang that to me and I'd cry and get upset about me, the sunshine, going away. I thought too hard about things...

He sang that because it made me cry. He was so mean...he'd sniffle and make it all sad...

I think I was too sensitive when I was a kid. But that's mostly my dad's fault. He would eat animal crackers and make screaming noises.

My mom always woke us up with "Rise and shine." I always found it annoying actually, but I kinda like it now. When there were small groups of children she would sing the "Going on a bear hunt" song. That song was so fun. There was one serious song that she sang, but I've gone blank on the words right now...I'll try to post it later.

I remember my mom singing songs to me, but I can't remember which ones! :O I do have songs that bring back major childhood memories, though. Like "Mexico" by James Taylor, and also "River of Dreams," by Billy Joel....XD "In the middle of the ni~ight *in the middle of the night* ....I go walkin' in my sle~eep *I go walkin' in my sleep* ...Through the Desert of Truth *Desert of Truth*...To the River of Dreams... *River of Dreams*.." Hahaha, I still love that song! XD


Oh, and I also remember hearing a TON of Michael Card's music as a kid. Yep.
