Saint Kevin wrote:I refuse to encourage yet another thread that serves no purpose other than to give recognition to the members here. Post something thought-provoking, encouraging, or otherwise edifying, and you get my vote (I think you all know who you are). I believe that was more common here at CAA, but it has fallen off I think.

So...here's my challenge for all of you who think they fit the above description:
Start one productive thread after you read this. It could be a question, a topic, a good point, a reminder of some biblical truth, or a personal opinion. Just be careful with those opinions, as it's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt.

Do that consistently enough, and you'll make a name for yourself. Even more so, you'll make CAA a better place, and hopefully do something good that will long outlast this humble forum.

I agree 100% (but I voted for Development! Oh Noes!)
Everytime these threads pop up you can feel everyone thinking "Why not me? Arent I known?"

Then theres the threads that come up after this that actually serve a good purpose (Encouragement Thread anyone?)

But if lifting 50 people lifting up 10 make a thread wourthwhile then so be it...

These threads are quite common in most of the other forums I've been to, and is always presented in that "why not me" thinking among the lesser known board members (some of which have actually managed to leave after seeing things as a some sort of popularity contest).

There really isn't anything wrong with acknowledging a few members with their contribution to the forums, of which was the intent of the thread. Granted, there will always be a few members that stick out due to their availability on the boards and that's fine. How one uses the forum is relative on each person's interest in being here, whether it would be as a social gathering, or simply reading postings as a way of learning new things.

Of course, with me being relatively new here, I cannot say there is a particular 'face' that sticks to mind. Like Saint Kevin mentioned, anybody who makes the effort to post things that are meaningful and helpful will always be remembered in one way or another.

*shrugs* even someone liek me that has an over 1,000 post count didn't make the list (meh). As far as I'm concerned, the popular ones are those that just post ALL the time with a post count of a couple thousands so seen everywhere, those who participant in special topics (or like RPGs and stuff), or those that talk on the chat often. Overall, people that don't have an outside life ;)

Ah, my popularity days on Pojo forums (due to high post count and AIM chats)... *reminises* Back when computer was a great friend... nopw I get out more when I can^^

I think just that fact that I exist on these forums refutes that theory.

I'd have the say the winner here is development. Even I fear that... guy? girl? Thing? What is development anyway?

In all seriousness, I also nominate Puritan. He's a cool cat and KhakiBlueSocks. That project of playing anime music out of your car in the middle of Alabama must of been exciting XD You get points for that

It's hard to say just what development is. According to one comic, he's an amorphis blob, according to another, he's Mithrandir with some awesome wings. All we know for sure is he makes great cappuccino.

I have to agree with MSP. I give KBsocks mad props for playing anime themes in his car in the middle of Alabama.

Heh. Very nice. For the record, the reason you were accidentally modded was that when I wanted to test the system you were the first name that came to mind. So that makes you at least moderately well known.

No one would ever run experiments on Development. If Development were to be altered in anyway, the universe would implode.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

It's hardly the first, I just like to reserve exclaimation marks for things that have significance. In this case, it was because saying "hear, hear" with a period seems either sarcastic or just weird.
