Well, after watching the first two episodes I would have to say that I am somewhat disappointed and unimpressed. While I am sure the computer graphics and special effects will draw in a new generation of Dr. Who fans, I missed the cheesiness of the older episodes. The older regenerations of the Dr. each had specific quirks, that while different, seem to keep the character connected to his earlier incarnations. This Dr. seemed a mixture of Dr. Who/James Bond/Mr. Wizard and very out of touch with his past. One of the first things was a trip to the wardrobe closet for an outfit that would stay with the time lord throughout his run. Our new fellow seems to have jumped from the pages of GQ. I'll contine to watch to see what directions the episodes will go, but personally at this point I'd rather pop in a DVD of one of the older episodes. I'm going to have to start watching for those on Ebay.

I saw more connection to the past in Rose than in the Doctor. The main reason I say that is that the companion has historically always figured things out and then told the Doctor. That totally happened in the Ferris wheel scene. But the Doctor is almost turning into some sort of MacGyver. He can do just about anything with just a sonic screwdriver. The older Doctors had to do a lot of improvising. Also, I don't like this whole thing about

To me, that has no purpose except to make the Doctor seem even more mysterious. The old Doctors weren't so alien. Really, they were pretty much all decidedly British. That added to the comedy of some of their situations. I think this is a very good show, but I don't really think it compared to the original. Luckily, my dad recorder the majority of the original episodes. *goes off to watch Castrovalva*

Remember though in the original it was hinted that the 1st Doctor and Susan had escpaed some kind of disaster and also throughout the series the Doctor hints that
his family is no more,except for Susan.

True, but there are numerous episodes that actually take place on Galifrey.

I can't speak for the original show yet, but I thought the twenty-seventh season of the Doctor Who series was phenomenal.

My dad, who is a fan of the original series, quite enjoyed the new one, and thought Eccleston did a very good job (though Tom Baker is his favorite).

Just trust me, it gets better.

Tom Baker was amazing. The Doctor appeared on The Simpsons once. He pretty well became the face of Doctor Who. Whose image did they use? Tom Baker.

Will Death'sHead appear in th new Dr. Who? I saw the first spisode onSci-fi and liked it. Except for that trampoline-woman Cassandra. She creeped me out big time.

I think the original only hinted that the Doctor and Susan had escaped some sort of unidentified disaster,it never stated what it was and Gallifrey wasn't identified as the Doctor's home planet until later on,about the Second or Third Doctor,I believe.
Then again there have been contradicitons concerning the Doctor's background.

Well, I really enjoyed it. I thought the main characters did a great job with the acting, and the chemistry was great. Also the show had humor! Wow. Looking forward to next friday's episode!

I was looking at the TV guide in our paper this morning. They will be showing two episodes again tonight. It appears the first is a repeat of the second episode shown last week followed by the newer episode. If they follow this schedule then it will be shown again next Friday as the first episode.

Long time Whovians probably knew there was going be some sort of monkey wrench in the works the minute the Gas Aliens started to cross the bridge.This is the sort of thing where Ace and her Nitro Nine would come in rather handy.
Next week looks to be the closest thing to a UNIT episode to date.

Brigadier, he probally had the most developement of any charecter fo Doctor who.

Yep.He and Benton were fun to watch in the UNITE episodes.Didn't like Yates too much.Then again Yates did betray everyone.

Captain Yates was one of the Brig.'s aides during a lot of the Pertwee UNIT episodes.Although Sergeant Benton seems to have been a lot more important since
Benton appeared in more epiodes than Yates.Benton was also more popular.
