I wash my hands thoroughly after going to the toilet. Its the only hygenic thing to do.
I don't always wash my hands before eating, but I definetly do if I've picked up our lizards or have dirty hands. But not after I've been drawing or some realitively clean thing like that.

Well I was going to say that you might get more accurate poll results if you kept the poll private... And then I saw that Kaligraphic answered "Female, no." :shady:

I can't remember the last time I didn't wash my hands when I left the bathroom. . . my 7th grade science teacher once went into a long disseration about the evils of unwashed hands, and told us why we shouldn't ever touch a bathroom door handle. Since then, I've washed my hands thoroughly and used either a paper towel or as little of my hand as possible to open bathroom doors. If I can, I just try to avoid exposure to public restrooms as often as possible .

Do I wash? Heck yes, if at all possible. And for times it's not possible (such as the times I come across some of the restrooms Lady Macbeth mentioned -- some of those don't even have soap), I even carry around a small bottle of that antibacterial hand sanitizer in my pocket. Perhaps I'm a bit of a germophobe, but there's just too much talk about germs and such out there.

Yes. Also, after visiting a church member in the hospital the first place I stop on my way out is the washroom in order to wash my hands. If I have several members that I am visiting at the same time, or if I am the chaplin on call, there is usually a dispensor for hand lotion in each room which I use before going to the next visit. Clean hands are a must in every situation.

This thread reminds me of that line of dialoge from the Justice League Unlimited ep.that was shown recently where Lex and Wally switch bodies and the Flash ends up in Villian Central and when one of the henchmen find him in the bathroom as he's going out says:
Henchman:"Did you wash?"
Wally/Lex:"No...Because I'm EVIL!"

I always get freaked out when people don't wash their hands and leave the bathroom. I'll open the door by wrapping a paper towel around the handle, then I'll quickly throw it out and run out the door before it closes...

Yeah, I'm just that weird.

I honestly don't know if I could walk out of a bathroom without washing my hands. I hate public restrooms, because like this thread, all I can think about now is the amount of people who don't wash. It gives me a bad case of the heebiejeebies.

I freak out in a public restroom when someone walks away without washing my hands. Especially the little kids who walk in, and walk out without attempting to go near the washers.

Actually, I enjoy washing my hands and having the scent of whatever soap is filled in those machines! Plus being able to dry your hands in the warm, automatic dryer that are in place in some of the restrooms.

No, you're not weird-- at least, no more weird than I am, because I do that EXACT same thing. I'm like, "EW! No way I'm touching that door handle after that person who didn't wash just did!" That'd just be gross!

Me too! If I got to a public rest room I try to touch NOTHING unless I use a paper towel to touch it. Needless to say there are some times that I end up washing my hands for several minutes.

Its really nice when they have swinging doors instead of handles though... then you can just push it open with your foot. And those inferred automatic flushers and inferred on/off sinks pwn too. >.>

All employees of restruants fast food and otherwise are SUPPOSED to wash their hands after they use the rest rooms. That's why they have the signs up in all the rest rooms.

A lady who goes to my church once saw a fast-food employee leave the bathroom without washing her hands, and she talked to the manager about it. I'm pretty sure the girl was then fired! Moral of this story: If you're a fast food employee, please, for your sake as well as ours, wash your hands.

This is true. Although a friend of mine who worked years ago at a McDonalds said that (at her restaurant at least) they had an area in back where all employees were required to wash their hands, in plain sight of the rest of the crew, whether they had washed their hands in the bathroom or not.

So if you notice a fast food worker not washing his or her hands, it may not be cause for alarm. Still, if it makes you uncomfortable it wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to a manager, because I imagine the facilities for hand washing vary from business to business.

(Personally I still think they ought to wash even if they do have a hand washing station in the kitchen. Chances are they'll be handling the door, and I don't want their pee germs on my freshly cleaned hands. ;) )
