if you knew you were going to die within a day...

Talk about anything in here.

if you knew you were going to die within a day...

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Mon Mar 13, 2006 1:23 pm

...what would you do?
Not exactly the most optimistic topic^^, but I just thought of this because of a dream I had the other night...

In the dream, I caught some type of disease from a dog biting me and doctor basically said I wouldn't have long (so I assumed basically it would be that day). Some of my family was over and because I didn't want them or my parents to be upset, I didn't even mention that I had a problem :/ Yet, a friend called my cell and I answered it saying "Looks like you're the last one I'll ever talk to on my cell!" And then I thought of something... the guy I like in reality, I wanted to call him. I wanted him to be the last person I talked to. So I called him up and told him I loved him (in reality, he likes me only as a friend, but well, in the dream I just thought "well, I've got nothing to loose by doing it!") Can't remember what he told me, but that was around the time the dream cut off... (yeah, it felt like somethign out of a movie or something!)

So yeah it got me thinking what I would really do in that sort of situation. Coincidently enough, I watched an ep of this newish anime called "Hantsuki" the day after the dream, and without knowing what it was even about, it's a sort of Walk to Rememberish series where the girl could die at well, any time.

So if you knew that in specific, you would hardly even have a day left, maybe a few hours, what would you do?

To be honest I can't say.Probably what I usually do every day.But probably end it by watching and rewatching my Sailor Moon Super S and Inuyasha
and Escaflowne and Dirty Pair DVDs over and over again.

I'd get on the nearest plane for a trip to where wolves are most common and eat a big 'ol steak.

Why must we be abandoned in times of need?
Do others not see when we yearn for their touch;
An insatiable hunger only they can feed.
Left alone with out their words – fallen into darkness.
Stumbling blindly without their light,
We fall and scream, knowing we've faced too much,
Knowing the only answer is flight.
Flight from the lives we once faced
And the joys and terrors others have brought.
Our time with them, a time of joy and life,
Wonder we all, was it for naught?

Purge my savings account, sending most directly to a missionary friend, keeping just enough to get a plane ticket to New Mexico.
Once I got there, I'd climb the mesa (there are a lot of mesas, but this one is special), watch the sun set, and stare at the stars until I fell asleep.
I might take someone with me, maybe a close friend (well, someone has to carry my shell to the morgue, and I don't want it to be some shepherd boy XD).

I've considered this before as well. I've actually begun writing a song on the topic, though it isn't far along yet. It is a big decision - one's last chance to be a positive (living) influence on those around.

I'd want to right any lingering wrongs that may have never been cleared up, even if the other party didn't want to talk or didn't even remember the incident.

Another thing is I'd want to share something with family and friends, you know, tell them how much they mean to me or give a special encouragement to those who are facing tougher challenges.

I think I'd work up the courage to tell those few close friends, who might have never really understood how I felt, that their friendship meant so much to me.

And I post something here and send emails and IMs so that all my e-friends would know why I wouldn't be posting/emailing/messaging them anymore!

Chocolate. All kinds of chocolate. XD

In seriousness, I really have no idea. I'd probably line up 24 straight hours of apologies and belated appreciation.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I have a few friends, though none of them live around here any more. Out of all of them, only one of them is a real friend to me, my best friend. Without a doubt, every minute of my time would be spent with my best friend.

I'd be lucky if it were that movie, Groundhog's Day, though.

Considering that a disease that would kill me in a day would probably exponentially weaken me there would be very little I could do, I would already feel like crud after one nights sleep. I would spend it away from everything I know in this world, every sensory imput would read nothing. I would take the time to truly observe this trial of pain I was about to go through and take whatever lessons it could give me before travelling on to a world without pain. For pain is a very rare thing in an eternal heavenly perspective, so I'd best make as much use of it to understand how I have hurt others and how I can improve myself as a result of this powerful force. Maybe I wouldn't do that... but it's probably what I should do, if I had to.

Presuming that I had a very good idea as to when the death would be...

First, terminate my college tuition, then take all my savings and credit out to give to something worthwhile. Then, say goodbye to all my friends and family. I don't have any real issues to clear up, but I would probably try to go out positively on quite a few. Another thing would be to write down all of my passwords so my family could retrieve the information there, though only a fraction of it would be of any real use. Presuming there would be time remaining, I'd spend it with my family, then try to go to sleep as the time drew near.

This is something I've given thought, actually, as unlikely as it may be.

This is indeed a tough one, but if that were the case, I'd spend as much time with my family as I could before the day would end. That means getting out the family album and home movies, reminisce about the good times we had together, and end it with a tearful, but unforgetable gathering at a theme park. The last time spent will be fun and it will serve a good closure towards my life.

It's also a good time to conquer my fears and actually ride a roller coaster for the first time. :)

I would not tell any of my family and friends. I would carefully write out notes to most of them, and leave them where they could be found. I would hate to think of everyone freaking out trying to save me. I would want to go peacefully, and alone to my thoughts.

I'd like to ask a follow up question.

What would you do if you were going to die in a day, and what are you waiting for? The italics are mine.

There's too much we take for granted each day. Too much that we could do and we don't because we think we can do it all another day, but the truth is we could die at any time. Why not clear out your savings today and arrange a round trip to japan for all your close friends CookinLikeSanji? The Lord commands us to give to others and trust that He will provide for all our needs. Not always an easy command to follow since it requires real faith.

As for what I'd do, I would start by typing out emails to my best friends then write a last story that included everything I've learned so far in life. I'd dedicate it to my girlfriend and just hope I could finish it in time. Lol! I just wish inspiration came to me easily. Oh well. I'd spend time with my family and my girlfriend too. The story would be my personal gift to her. ^_^

Life is a test. It is only a test. Had this been real life you would have have been instructed where to go and what to do.

Once you've decided on a course of action, only you can finish it. As long as you remember that, there's nothing you can't accomplish.

Well I would begin by emailing all my friends in the Philippines (I used to live there so that's quite a lot).

After that I would probably blow all my money on Azumanga Daioh DVD and the new Ghost In The Shell 1 & @ Box set and watch them.

I wouldn't tell anyone either, I'm kinda intreverted as it is I would hate the attention. Besides, after I'm gone I want people to remeber my life and not my death.

Oh, and Chow Mein Pot Noodles. YUM! Gotta have 'em...

First aren't we all assuming that by this topic we KNOW we're going to croak and have a single day left.In other words, doesn't it seem to everyone that everyone is assuming that the hypothetical situation is that we have an uncurable disease and will die on an appointed day.
So I ask the question what if we DIDN'T know it was going to be our last day on Earth living? What would you do if you DIDN'T know you were going to die but ended up dying.
Let's say it's something you can't predict like a car accident or you get murdered.
Or something on that lines. Then what would you do?
