Morning Mood = Day Mood?

Morning Mood = Day Mood?

Postby Allegro » Mon Mar 06, 2006 8:25 pm

This is kind of related to the 'Morning Routines' thread from a while ago, but would you guys say that how you wake up in the morning dictates your mood for the rest of the day, until in the evening?

I've noticed that if I wake up feeling crummy, it sort of is an indicator that I'll feel like that for the rest of the day. It's happened that if I get too little sleep, or too much sleep, the same feeling carries over throughout the remainder of the day, no matter how I attempt to reverse it.

On the other hand, if the morning I wake up feeling great, I generally have a better day as far as mood.

Hmm. I've discovered that if I try (and I'm not for a minute suggesting I remember to do so) I can change my mood. If the morning is horrible, I can think about everything I really have on the drive into work and feel pretty good by the time I get there. On the other hand, if I have a wonderful morning and get to work to find out a server crashed or whatever, it can really spoil the rest of the day.

Whenever I wake up before 8:00 I am likely to wake up a bit grumpy. However, waking up before 8:00 doesn't mean I'll have a bad day, or I never would have gotten through high school. So I would say that rule doesn't work for me.

If I wake up in a bad mood in the morning, it could easily change by the afternoon. However, sometimes if I wake up in a good mood, I might end up in a bad mood by nightfall, it all depends really. lol It's more likely for me to wake up in a bad mood and then continue the day in a good mood though; I'm usually not a morning person.

I tend to have bad days in chunks. Like several bad days in a row. Otherwise, I'm pretty steady going.

I'd say so. If I sleep too late, for instance, I'll be ticked off at myself, and go about the rest of my day feeling grumpy.

While its possible to change moods during the morning and day, I somehow find that even if you wake up sour and feel better later on, chances are it wouldn't feel as good as if you had woken up refreshed.

The "physical" feelings you endure after waking up carries throughout the day, and mangaes to affect mood, regardless of it's positve or negative. At least in my experience.

I don't know. Like a few of you, I might just not be a morning person. :)

That pretty much sums it up for me. I'm typically more cranky in the morning, although it really has more to do with WHEN I wake up than anything. I despise mornings.

Mornings are blah for me. I don't usually wake up in any particular mood...I'm just kinda there until the blood starts flowing to my brain a little more, I guess.

My moods change throughout the day depending on circumstances, usually. Although I prefer to wake up crappy and end up having a good day, rather than wake up feeling incredible and end the day on a sour note.

I'm not a morning person. I rarely wake up in a good mood. It sometimes gets better during the day, sometimes not.

I'm barely conscious in the morning... I'm at my best as the evening rolls by. Energy Drink binge ahoy!

Morning Mood is an awesome tune. Grieg ftw.

That said, it's certainly possible to control your moods and emotions, it just takes practice.

Usually, if I have a bad morning, I'll perk up by the time I get to school. I am in no way a morning person, so I never wake up feeling well, unless it's sometime around 10am and I know I don't have to get up early. XD Then again, if I'm having a great morning (this is rare), and a series of events happens at school, then I usually don't have a very good remainder of the day. I think it all depends on my mood and other circumstances.
