News Source?
Can anyone recommend a good newspaper? I had been reading St. Louis Post-Dispatch for local news and New York Times for national and international, but I feel like they're giving me a somewhat underwhelming perspective. The Post-Dispatch selections seem random and The Times stories feel more and more like the editors think everyone outside of NYC plays banjoes with their feet. So, what do you all read to keep up?

The BBC (bbc.co.uk) is an excellent source for international news, and I find the Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com) is an excellent and balanced newspaper for national (and some international) news. You could also read the english version of the Yomiuri Shinbun (from what I have read it is the largest circulating newspaper in the world, http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/) if you want a Japanese perspective on things, or other newspapers for relevant news coverage from other countries.

World Magazine is pretty good...Not as comprehensive but definately worth a read.

I also use http://news.bbc.co.uk/ for my international information. They're pretty good. 
For African and South African news I go to http://www.news24.com which is up to date but hard to navigate.

yeah, definitly take into account the political standpoints of any newssource you read... last semester, I did studies on how much these media networks are affected by political affiliation and I was surprised at how much there is. Always read from both sides of the political spectrum (ie, 2 different sources)

For news from abroad, the BBC is definately one of the best sources you can get. For a general newspaper though, I'd go with the Globe and Mail (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/). If you want a good television newscast, watch "The National" on CBC.

True, but you do have some outlets that do their best to be unbiased, and others that try to be biased as possible. The big thing, I think, is that you look for a paper that does it's best to keep their biases out of news coverage. The BBC is well known for trying to be unbiased, and the Washington Post tries to do that as well. And reading or seeing news from a biased source isn't always bad if you make sure to get a balanced view of things elsewhere. You just need to know what is editorializing and what is actual news, and view it accordingly.
