Sleep Deprivation

I've been up for around 36 hours straight with friends. In high school we would get together and stay up for long periods of time playing Axis and Allies, watching movies, and playing computer games while drinking unhealthy amounts of Mountain Dew and eating candy. Not something I would do for fun anymore, mind you, as the amounts of caffine I used to be able to drink would make me extremely sick now, but that used to be my idea of great entertainment. Still would probably be fun now if my friends and I didn't all get tired around midnight to 1 am and just go to bed.

Luckily I live in NZ so I shouldn't be very sheep deprived... however they do say everything in moderation...

I've done a few all-nighters then got to bed late the night after... I'm not sure how many hours that would be. 24+ I'd think. I experience the Euphoria, and find that everything is hard going until about 4am when I start to become very wide awake. This is about the time that I seem to write the most in essays... though when I come back (after having slept) and actually read what it is I wrote during that time I start to question my own sanity. Early mornings and logical reasoning in assignments seem to be mutually exclusive in my experience.

Longest for me was I think 32 -- I was finishing up my final research paper for my AP Lit class. A very wretched 37 pages.

I think ive gotten to about 30 hours but as far as true sleep depravation the last month of my sinior year i hade loads of papers to do so i think for that month i got at most 1.5-2 hours of sleep between the hours of 5-6:30 or somthing and that went on for the entire month exsept for saterday nights. I praticly lived off of energy drinks and pushups that month just to stay awake.

I think I've always assumed sleep deprivation reset your biological clock. That's why I always plan on being sleep deprived when I travel to a place with a large time difference, so that I'll get on the new time more quickly. I've never actually tried it in a situation like that, but it does seem to work when I'm trying to get back on a normal schedule at the end of summer.

I've gone for about 60 hours without sleep. I did it one weekend just for kicks, I think. Oddly enough, I didn't seem to have any adverse side effects during the day, but the nights were more difficult.

I kinda did that when I went to hong kong. We stayed up the whole night and slept the whole flight over. I think it might've helped, but there's no sure-fire cure for jet-lag. You just kinda have to deal with it.

I wold agree with that - it all depends on when you go to sleep after staying up. ZZZing at 10 am the next day will make your next week crazy.

(so the best thing i've found to do is to tough it out till the next late afternoon at least)
