Otakon 2006

Postby JC_Freak275 » Wed Feb 22, 2006 10:51 am

Hey, is there anyone who's planning on going to Otakon 2006?

http://www.otakon.com

I'm still debating if I want to go or not but if I do I most likely will be cosplaying and I'm looking for someone to cosplay with...just for fun. I am willing to do an anime and characters that are already out there or come up with completely new stuff and create some new characters and plot all to ourselves. There are endless possibilities with this, and it would be so much fun to hang out and get to know one another and enjoy the weekend.

When: August 4 - August 6
Where: Baltimore, Maryland - Baltimore Convention Center
Cost: Preregristation is 50 dollars at www.otakon.com

Mr. SmartyPants and I are planning to go, and Peanut is probably coming with us. I didn't cosplay last year, but I think I might this year.

I have pre reged already and right after the con dates were announced I had to reserve a hotel room because the two lowest priced and closest hotels and had all their rooms sold out before the month was gone. I got one next to those but will have to pay a little more.
I bet if I had gone a regular route on a hotel room I could get it cheaper than the Otakon price or even on of those services that can get a hotel for less.

Already registered. Haven't done the hotel room yet, but I'd better do that soon. I waited too long last year, and ended up paying a real premium on a room close to the convention.

ClosetOtaku I hope you find something. I was told a couple of weeks after Otakon 2005 the hotels were booking up right then. Your only hope is that someone cancels at the Days Inn, Holiday Inn or Marriot close to the con.

Yeah, I haven't prereged yet but I have been looking at the hotels to make sure some are still available. Last year I decided to go last minute and we got some hotel like 20 mins away that we had to drive back and forth with....wasn't very cool.

Meboeck, you should cosplay definitely. lol Its a lot of fun and hey, we could cosplay together if you want :-p

I am going to try to go... but I think I might have to miss the last day since I am pretty sure we leave for a missions trip that day... I think... well we'll just have to see.

Well I prereged last night. And made another thread in the "General" section. Last year I organized an informal CAA group gathering, and maybe I can do the same this year XD

I'll see you there, Smarty baby! You too, Meeb! Comin' in with an all-new lineup of anime and game songs to play on the guitar (plus some old favorites) and I'll be cosplaying as Harry Mason from Silent Hill. Haven't prereg'd yet, but I will soon.

Since I don't know whether the Otakon thread here or in the General Entertainment forum will survive longer, I'll just quote myself from that one.

La la la...

I had a really cool idea for otakon...its so awesome, I'm actually gonna do it (^_^)V

If ya want me to explain, just ask \(^_^)/<(hehe)

Also, is there anyone here who wants to do a group cosplay? I'm up for grabs on what to cosplay this year...last year I was Shigure Sohma, although...by the end of the convention I didn't like the fact that I went around saying "High school girls, high school girls, all for me...all for me..." considering I'm a high school girl plus its not very Christ-like.

I'm thinking about going. Probably, I'll go.

I'll be a Save Point again if I do. And I'll have a cell phone this year too. XD

I have found out that we should be going on our mission trip on the 6th of August, so if I am able, I will probably end up going on the 4th since we will probably have a practice for our ministry stuff on the 5th. Of course, it is possible that something will occur and I will be able to go to Otakon... but quite honestly I hope not, since mission trips are really fun and you get to see people's lives change both on the team and in the country.

If I do go, I will probably miss any training days if they happen to occur on the 4th and 5th. I will be willing to miss sunday, as... sunday is actually kinda boring >_>
