If you have not seen it Sam Goody, Sun Coast and Radio Shack are closing a number of their stores across the country.
I went into a mall I usually go to and Sam Goody was closing a store there but the Sun Coast was was staying open.
The company filed chapter 11 so they could close some of their stores.
Radio Shack is closing 700 out of 7000 stores.
I guess if you want some deals get to the ones closing for some deals.

All over here in Canada, the Radio Shacks have been bought and turned into The Source, which is a smaller outlet of Best Buy :/ Best Buy in the past couple years have also been making their appearance here...
Hmmm I wonder who's taking over all these stores^^ So if Best Buy ever teamed up with Starbucks... that's a scary thought!

a few years ago, ON-Cue (A Samgoody Store) closed down..it was very sad..but... I STILL HAVE MEH HASTINGS! *hugs my last resort of anime within a drivable radius*

We have a Radio Shack in town but it is the only one so I hope they don't close it or we would have to go all the way to Spokane to buy what we could get here.
There's also a Sam Goody in the mall that we go to in Spokane(Northtown Mall).
Actually I think there are two of them,a smaller one on the main floor and larger one on the second floor.

My Sam Goody is closing down too, but it's only a little sad, because their prices were usually absurd compared to other stores, and we could get everything elsewhere. But I'm excited about the sales, I already bought a soundtrack by Yuki Kajiura, and if there's anything left when things get marked down further, I might go back and help them clean out a little more!

I'm still hearing that Sun Coast is closing all of their stores and Sam Goody will be the only store left for Musicland Inc.
Musicland Inc owns Sam Goody, Sun Coast and what use to be Media Play.

I believe the entire Sucoast chain is closing, but selected Sam Goody stores are being closed.

Suncoast is lame anyway. Everything's too expensive there, plus the nearest one is like 40 miles away from me. And we don't really even have Sam Goody in this part of Oklahoma.

Hastings as a lot of good stuff.I just got started going to Borders because of their
ainme section but Barnes & Nobles has a better manga selection.
As far as the topic goes,I've been to Sam Goody a couple times to look for videos when we first got our VCR.I bought a copy of The Jackie Robinson Story there.
Classic baseball movie that's a must see.

The only thing I generally buy is Manga. I have only stepped into suncoast once, and that was to get my brother-in-law a DVD for christmas XD

There is a Suncoast in the Mall of Louisiana in my town...and quite a few Radio Shacks here too...but it's not really worth the drive for me from Baton Rouge to Siegen Lane (Anyone from Baton Rouge knows how hard the drive can be on a Saturday)--if they had a sale going on...that's another story...

A whole lot of store chains seem to be closing lately. Every time I go into the mall, yet another one of my favorite stores is closing. I barely have any reason to even go into the mall anymore.

No! Suncoast can't close! I know they were overpriced, but if you have the Replay card, you'll even out to normal prices after figuring in the rebates. They also have (in my area, anyway) a much better selection of anime than Best Buy. Now I am sad.

Where I live here in the Washington D.C. area there have been so many chain stores close around here you wonder what would happen to the mall or shopping center they were in. One mall closed except for Sears which owns the building that it is in but that could change farther down the road when the mall is turn into something else. I have heard it could be made into a hospital or outpatient medical center or education center.
I have seen alot of buildings that were department, home improvement even 7-11s stores turn into church buildings in my area.

According to Home Media Retailing Trans World plans to convert 345 of the Suncoast and Sam Goody stores to its own brands and will close the remainder of the Musicland outlets.
Musicland vendors contacted by ICv2 had a decidedly mixed reaction to the news that Trans World had made a bid for the Musicland retail chain. Musicland's Suncoast stores have been real pioneers in bringing anime to American shopping malls, stocked anime more deeply than any other large scale specialty store chain and also carried a considerable selection of manga and anime/manga-related toys. While some of the vendors we talked with were hoping the deal would salvage some of the mall-based shelf space and customers that would typically be lost when a retail organization the size of Musicland disappears, others worried about the commitment of Trans World to anime and manga.

I would be surprised if they closed out Radio Shack since it is the only one in town and the next nearest would mean a 45 mile drive to Spokane,so it would be illogical to close it.

If you all were wondering which Sam Goody and Suncoast locations were closing, here's a list.
Even if Trans World's bid is successful, the Suncoast, Sam Goody and Media Play names will still remain as online retailers.

Well, it looks like our local (if you can call 60 miles away local) Suncoast isn't closing. The Sam Goody 30 miles away doesn't have CRAP for anime/manga - they got rid of all their manga (as did Suncoast) and they stock an absolute minimal amount of anime and anime merchandise.
Suncoast still has an ok selection of anime and anime merchandise, but I've had to start going to Waldenbooks and Borders for my manga.
Hopefully my check card will be here within the next week, though, so I won't have to drive an hour to find manga, I'll just buy it online.
