My Long-Lost Step Sister is Found!

Talk about anything in here.

Hi there Mr SP!

No, I'm not sure if she's Christian or not yet. Hopefully I will soon but last night was for the most part spent in getting to know her. Which leads me on to my next point...

...I met my new oldest sister yesterday... and she is lovely.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything at all. I didn't go to meet her with any conscious expectations. Regardless, I wasn't 'disappointed' at all. She is wise, intelligent, friendly and has a good sense of humour.

We went out to a movie premiere that my sister's workmate had scored tickets for. We went to her apartment early and just sat and talked with her. She gave me two cans of V. But I suppose the thing that really stuck out from the evening was just how kind she was. It was a small thing, but I didn't realise it was an open air screening on the harbour-front for the movie. I wasn't prepared for an on-shore wind and was soon freezing. She gave me her jacket to keep warm. :) I know it might not seem the biggest gesture in the world, but it speaks a heck of a lot to me.

The whole night I had a big grin plastered all over my beaming face. (It hurt a little when I got home, heh). I kept looking at her face... trying to familiarize myself with her.

She's been though a lot of hard stuff. A lot of really, really, hard stuff. The worst of it all (or what hit me the most) was that she's spent it all alone without any family. But I'm determined that that stops right now.

So I guess... well, what more is there to say about it all? From here, its all about building a relationship. I love my new sister and want to make sure that she feels absolutely welcome and a part of our family, and to slowly make up for the years we haven't had together.

Praise God. Praise, praise Him for His glorious, unfailing, compassion, mercy and love. Praise Him for his kindness, help and restoration. Amen.

Absolutely wonderful news! My best wishes for your future relationship. It is great how you have reached out to her, and how she has reacted to it.

So how's your dad doing? He must be really excited about all of this. It's really cool that you two got to hang out.

Thanks TD and COtaku.

Wow - my Dad is still very blown away by everything. I think he's found it difficult in some ways, particularly in the area of wondering if he should have done anything more to find her previously, and trying to make up for the years lost. In spite of this, he's ecstatic and every so often will just say... "I love all my girls.." and I know he's just been thinking about finding his daughter again. Its very awesome.

That's great to hear she's an excellent person! So awesome! :)

This sounds humorous, but I know what you mean.
The first sentence reminds me of the Tour Guide Barbie from the end of Toy Story 2 ("Ow, my cheeks are killing me!").

At what age did she start living without a family?

Yes, praise Him! :jump:

At 17. She still had some contact with her Mother at that point until her Mother told her she didn't want to hear from her again at 21. I don't want to go into too many details but as you can probably gather she hasn't had the easiest time. But she's now met most of her brothers and sisters and she's really coming more and more into the family. :jump:

Thanks, Scribs. ^_^

Well, the rest of the family are taking it pretty well. Things have settled down a little now but everyone's still really happy. My brother isn't really that talkative, but he likes Kirsty. Soph's met her too and they get along very well too so far. Its been good all round. Thanks, TD.
