It's not unusual to find non-perishable food that is a couple of years old in my house being eaten. A couple of months in an obscure cabinet is nothing. I think the current food record is an opened bag of marshamllows I found that had expired three years prior to when we finally threw it away.

While I do have my emergency food supply, which consists of non-perishable food and is probably over two years old now, candy and sweets just don't sit around my house. I tend to start handing out excess sugar to anyone in my house I run across, and it dissapears pretty quickly (I went through about two pounds of halloween candy in about a half-hour this way)

Nothing says love like pwning random people online...not exactly my idea of Valentine's day, but definately more romantic than watching Stargate with some friends on the evening of Valentine's day, which is what I will probably be doing.

I'm afraid there is someone that might try to ask me... x_x It will be a blow to an otherwise good friendship when I turn him down if I don't word the thing correctly.

Was almost born on Valentine's Day. That's about all of it's significance to me (with the exception of all the vague valentines I have to make and give out... should get to work on that...).

If I might make a suggestion, -don't- use "Let's just be friends" or something similar. Simply say no, and tell him why, and give him an alternative (go out with a group of friends, or ...)

Agreed, hearing "Let's Just be Friends" is emotionally akin to being shot in the face with a 12-gauge shotgun.

Ooh, I just remembered that I have not one, but two tests on the 15th and 16th... maybe my teachers hate Valentine's Day too.

Hm...I'm single, and I'm more happy about it than indifferent. I really don't think I'm ready for a one-on-one relationship.

I will, I think, follow the Japanese tradition and get chocolate for the boys in my class. We're a pretty tight-knit group as it is.

It's the day before my oldest sister's birthday so we have that to think about more than V-day.
As far as it goes I plan on sending my female friends e-cards.I found some really nice ones. :thumb:
Outside of that I will be moping inside well watching Inuyasha and wishing

If you're going to accuse this holiday of being some corporate thing invented by Halmark, you can say the same about Christmas.

Get over it, people.

Hm, I agree. I kind of think this is turning into a bigger deal than it has to be. It's not a bad holiday, though many do resent it. And...If none of you care that you're single on Valentine's...then why bother to go to the trouble to make it known and make it such a big deal? :eh:

Valentine's Day always starts up a lot of unnescessary teen angst. Whoever whines has to ruin it, or whoever has a significant other unknowingly smashes it into someone else's faces, everyone ends up miserable blah blah, life is so terrible and I'm lonely, I'm going to go lurk in my miasma of emo sorrow now.

Anyways, I think threads like this are nice because the prevailing topic of discussion seems to be "why can't we be happy for others and do stuff for friends on Valentine's Day?"

=3 Don't you LOVE the holidays?

Valentine's Day is all right, I guess. It's just a little irritating when couples go overboard and make a huge deal out of worrying about what gift to buy. Maybe I would think of it differently if I was dating some one, but otherwise, I just see it as an excuse to splurge on chocolate for myself and share with friends. :P

Did anyone else always exchange cards and message hearts with all of your classmates in elementary school? I remember doing that every year... It was so fun!

I remeber the cute little cards as a child!! Those were so adorable. As for me and Valintines day, I'm not single, I have a boyfriend, but we both decided that we're not going to celebrate V-day, I'll probably end up going out with some girls and then going to somebody's house to watch scary movies. :hits_self

Yeah, candy's good.

But I'm honestly not against the holiday. If you have a significant other in your life, I'm happy for you. I'm leaning toward the humorous end of things, and that's what I meant it to be, humorous.

Because love is hilarious in itself, anyway...

I'm not a huge fan of candy, but I don't mind it. Oftentimes I end up leaving candy in a bag somewhere for a year or two and then throwing it out becaue I never ate it.

heh, i voted option 1 so i guess that makes me one of teh bitter ones
:bang: , (joking, well somewhat). i don't like hate valentines day or anything, it just is kinda depressing when it reminds you every year taht your still single.

i actually got a card this year, i was gonna give it to the girl i like, today and ask her out on a date... but i chickened out because i was too L4M3Rz, to actually go through with it. so mainly this year i'm annoyed at myself for being dumb and not even trying.

But heh heh this valentiens day i'll be at kendo class anywayz so i get to take my frustration out beating ppl up with ma bamboo sword

However, I am also glad that I am single. Who needs a man when they are to young to even consider marriage?

I voted '...blarg?' Because I don't qualify for the first two, and didn't get the third one.

I currently have a boyfriend, but we live 12 hours away and only can get together during breaks. :( But I already sent off his gift, and he should have sent mine off sometime soon. He was also the first person to ever ask me to be a valentine. *sappy grin*

Last year I made cards with a drawing I had done of a rose and some suitable Bible verses and gave them out to my girl friends as encouragement. They all kept them for the rest of the year on their dorm doors as decoration.

I love chocolate though, especially dark. Can't have much chocolate or mint though, it's a big no-no with my acid reflux. :shady: I think my new favorite, though, is Toffifay. Yum. Caramel, hazelnut, hazelnut chocolate, and chocolate.
