(question about cats)

After seeing the "Lion cut" thread in goof off, I've been dying to know.

Why does the Lion Cut exist? Seriously, who would make their cat go through such an experience...? It's not beneficial to the cat (like a line cut) and the cat needs the fur. It keeps the cat warm. Besides that, it leaves the cat open to more rashes and such, and as far as I can tell, cats hate it.

So why would one want to do such a thing...? It doesn't even look good! I don't understand.

:/

There's no accounting for taste. Besides, it may even be beneficial to a cat who lives in a very hot climate.

I thought animal skin burned easier...? What if the animal were to get directly exposed to the sun?

'Sides, I thought cooling cats down was why you gave them dishes of water. :/

My cat would never forgive me if I gave him a lion cut, but I had a client once recomend it. She had super hairy indoor cats that got too hot. I suppose it also made it easier to keep tangles out of thier hair, but... (dies laughing at the thought of shaved cat).

I think it's meant only for pampered cats (this is pampering?) by that I mean cats that live only inside...

*looks at my kitten, pocky and hugs her protectively* I would never do that to her!

Shia, your getting too worked up about this. I did the same thing to my cat and it was because her fur was all matted and there was absolutely no way to fix it. imagine yourself as the cat: would you like matted long hair? or have it shaved off and then it can grow back nice and clean and non-matted?

We had to do that for a couple of our cats and while they did look silly, it was quite good for them in the summer (especially the longhaired ones).

I'm pretty sure he's just asking if it actually benefits the cat or not. I can understand that it could be detrimental to some cats with certain "lifestyles." There's nothing wrong with him asking questions.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
