Talk about anything in here.

Not the most responsible attitude heero yuy. But like many teenagers you must think you are invincible on the road. The sad truth: You aren't. Put on a seat-belt.

Okay, fair enough. But it's also not such a silly question. I know a couple people who went to the US for a holiday (some years ago) and they noticed next to no-one wore a seat-belt. Not to mention that's what we are also told by the media over here. Naive is probably a better word.

I don't know where in the world they went in the US, but one of the few times times I HAVEN'T worn a seatbelt (in the USA) was when I was cramed into a car with too many people and not enough seatbelts. I can't remember a place I've lived in where you wouldn't be fined if you didn't wear a seatbelt.

Actually, it was enough that I was completely stunned when I went to India and realized that basically NO ONE wore seatbelts. In fact, most cars there don't even have them.

It's a subconscious habit for me to buckle up as soon as I get into any vehicle. If the seatbelt is buried, I make sure to find it before we take off.

I live in Oklahoma. They've really been cracking down on this stuff around here.

I always always always do. It's a subconcious thing for me too. Every now and then I'll be driving and be like "is my seatbelts on?!" Which of course it always is. It helps also that there's a blinking red seatbelts man on my dash and a tone if you don't have the seatbelt buckled.

Worse thing is to be thrown from a car and ended up in high speed traffic and the vehicles not beable to stop or not see the victim.

... And that is a very effective illustration for why seatbelts are a good idea. :wow!:

It sometimes helps to watch those police videos on TV. They tend to emphasize on how those who survive because they wore seatbelts and showcase those who -fly- because they don't. It's also a grim reminder on how drunken driving and speeding aren't the smartest things to do.

And that reminds me. If possible, don't get a car with automatic seatbelts. If the door opens in a crash, your shoulder restraint disappears.
