My Long-Lost Step Sister is Found!

Postby CreatureArt » Fri Jan 27, 2006 7:43 pm

At 11pm on Thursday night, I found out that my long-lost older step sister had been found!

I'll explain a little more. Both my parents have had previous marriages. In my Father's first marriage he became the father of two girls. I don't want to go into too many details as all this happened before I was born, but after the divorce the two girls were separated - one to live with their Mother, one with our Dad.

The sad thing is that my Dad and older sister lost contact with the daughter who stayed with my Dad's first wife - about 18/20 years ago.

Of course, I've never known my other sister. But my Dad and older sister would often talk about her together and Dad would often just say something sadly, wondering where she was.

But last Wednesday my older sister was able to find a fresh clue as to where her sister was. She followed it up... and finally, finally found my other step-sister.

As you can imagine, its pretty exciting. I've got a whole new sister! I haven't met her yet as she needs the chance to catch up with my Dad before meeting all the rest of the family, but I'm just so overwhelmed by it all. Wish us all the best of luck!

That's really cool, CreatureArt. I hope you all get along really well and that she's able to catch up easily with your dad!
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Wow, it's like a TV show! Er...just more....real.

Anyway, I think that would be cool to meet a long lost sister/brother.

I understand how you feel a whole lot. My half-brother (I hate using that word, he is my brother completely) and I have lost contact for quite sometime. When I'm ready to be a proper uncle, then I will mend the fences.

Thanks, everyone! ^_^

(I'm keeping names out of this for privacy but its getting confusing so I'll switch to K and S. K is my long lost sister. S is my other older sister).

Yeah I wanted to cry when my older sister was telling me everything about K. She said they had found out the place K worked at and waited there in order to meet her. S hadn't caught sight of her after a while so she decided to ask another lady who'd started working there - then took a second look. She thought.... "...that's her. That is HER!" and asked her if she was. The girl WAS our sister, but didn't recognise S. But when S said "I'm S," K replied... "my SISTER S?" "Yes!"

K has spent years without any family at all to speak of, and I'm determined that she never has to be that way again. This is such an amazing blessing of God and I cannot wait to see my new sister and totally gently enfold her in our family. It IS like something you'd watch in a TV serial: but to be honest, this is so, SO much better. Of course, there's sadness for the years lost and the harship K has gone through, but everything will be ok now. I love her already.

I wish cool things would happen in my family, like if I had some younger sister, or a sister my age. We could be all doing stuff together. Like some dynamic duo

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it all. :)

It's weird - I kind of forget about it (because excitement always fades over time: that's just life because you get accustomed to things) but then I get thoughts like; "Hey, I'm going to be in the city for Uni next year. She lives in the city! I could take her out for lunch or just hang out between classes!" ...and I haven't met her yet. Regardless, I have plans. :evil: ^_^

That's pretty awesome. So your going to College in her city next year? (I'm assuming that's what you meant by Uni?)

That's really neat! I hope that the two of you can make up for lost time and have a wonderful relationship. It'll be nice that you're going to school where she lives, more opportunities to spend time together.

Well, Auckland is quite a far-reaching city so I usually don't get into the City - or the heart of Auckland city - but because I'm going to University/College this year I'll get to see her a bit more because she lives quite close to the area I'll have to hang out in (seeing as I'll be stuck in the city a lot due to bus and class timetables). :)

Thanks everyone! Yes, I'm hoping that I'll be able to spend quite a bit of time with her beause as well as living close to the city she also works there.

Oh, and if all goes according to plan I will be able to meet her this Saturday night after a movie. :) :hug:

All this is very amazing for our whole family, but for my Dad especially (as she's his other daughter). He went to see her yesterday evening and they were talking until 1 or 2 am. Its difficult in some ways (if only I'd tried harder to find her, if only we hadn't lost contact...) but although the ifs and buts are hard I think the joy of finding her kind of overshadows most of that.
