Of course he wasn't justified, he was a terrorist through and through, and what's worse is he got to the point where it wasn't about money, he thoroughly enjoyed it. To make matters worse, once he realized who Sagara was he made it his personal agenda to antagonize him in every way possible. Yeah, the worst kind of villains are the ones that do it for fun.

I agree to the opinion that Hamdo is not most despicable. Most pitiable is more like it: his irrational fears driving him to Evil that he probably can't even comprehend. But my "most despicable" is from the same series: Lady Abelia. She represents everything that was wrong with those who made the Third Reich and other tragedies possible: the ones who willingly follow the madmen and orchestrate evil for them, even though they themselves are apparently in possession of their senses.
The same series also contains two characters that are easily on my top-five list for "most admirable protagonists", Shu and Sis.

I have to agree with Lady Macbeth. The villains in Hellsing are my vote for the most despicable. I mean, they are Nazi vampires. That alone should tell you something

No Treize Khushrenda, so I voted for Shishio, the one everyone loves to hate.

Really, Treize wasn't a Villain. Zech is a half hero and villain that at the end turn into a hero.

Dekim Barton was a real villain in Endless Waltz. He don't care about Mariemaia Khushrenada and all he did was brain wash her and make her his puppet.

To me, the real villain in any Gundam show was in 08th MS team, Ginias Sahalin.

I voted for Ganossa Maximilian from Silent Mobius. It's true that Naraku is a classic villain but the difference between them is that Ganossa was a bit more subtle about how he went about doing things and he wasn't always popping up the way Naraku was. Also the way he killed Roy at the end of that one episode in order to get Katsumi to go over to the Lucifer Hawks was plainly despicable.
As far as Sergei goes on Geneshaft,it's Sergei Sneak IV,if I remember. He was the fourth Sergei clone.
Here's Ganossa's Victim:

Wow, so I just noticed. I totally didn't see a Yukishiro Enishi up there...Hmmm...*votes Enishi*

Honestly, I would have picked Shishio earlier. But, I didn't really mind him that much at first...Until the final battle where Kenshin fights him. Then I decided I couldn't stand him. XD

I don't know that Abelia was really fully in control of her senses either. I think she probably has some sort of basis for her loyalty to Hamdo, that we can only speculate on, but for some reason there is something in her that won't allow her to betray his trust. There are a few times in the show where I think you can see her struggling with it in her head, but it is never said verbally.

I agree with you on Shu though. He is my favorite character in all anime (in case you couldn't already tell from my av). :thumb:

I decided to vote for the Shogun of the Dark. I almost chose Naraku. He was a very close second. The person who surprised me the most as being on this list is Sesshōmaru. Considering all that's happened since he saved Rin, he might even be called a hero!

I agree with you Sennin, I can never understand why anyone would ever put Sesshoumaru on a list of villains. His only problem is he doesn't get along with his brother. Poor misunderstood Sessy. *tries to hide the fact she used to be sess obsessed*

Out of those on the list I voted for Delphine. I haven't seen all of the shows up there, but Delphine was just evil. She totally enjoyed it too!

Just got my Silent Mobius DVD today. As a thought I wonder why Rosa Cheyenne and Katsumi weren't on the list. While Katsumi was under the spell of the Demon Sword,it is also true that she betrayed her friends and nearly destroyed the AMP
before Kiddy was able to force her to stab her(fortunately like Major Kusunagi
Kiddy's a cyborg)thus redeeming Katsumi.Rosa was a bit different as she willingly joined the Lucifer Hawks.
Great scene...during the final battle between Katsumi and the AMP she manages to use her Lucifer Hawk powers to sneak behind Lum Cheng and mock her about Roy.

I'd say Legato. It was tough choosing between him and Knives; Knives is indeed a horrid being, but is not quite as despicable as Legato, whose morbid sense of humor, twisted powers, and gruesome mass-slaughters (especially in the manga!) are disturbing. Particularly when Legato made that one member of the Roderrick gang tear his own heart out, and then made the rest of the gang shoot themselves...

Ah, Enishi should have been up there. I think he's more evil than Shishio, anyway. Plus, he looks awesome.

With the exception of Rau Le Cruset (Gundam SEED really was a long laugh-fest for me), all the villains you listed were pretty bad, but still not as bad as Griffin from Berserk. I have a deep burning hatred for that villain.

I definitely say Legato Bluesummers from Trigun, doing what he did to Vash...
though in the manga, Knives is MUCH worse than Legato (so far that is...)

To all those who say Shou Tucker (FMA) doesn't qualify...HE DOES TOO!!!! The title of the thread is "Most Despicable Anime Villains", not "Most Despicable MAIN Anime Villains". Sure, Tucker is hardly the main villian of the show, but he IS the most despicable. Gluttony, Lust, and the other Homonculi don't have human emotion, so when they kill, it means nothing to them. Tucker, on the other hand, is human, and, even though he loves her, he uses HIS OWN DAUGHTER for experimentation and alchemicly fuses her with HIS DOG. HOW DESPICABLE IS THAT!!!!!!

I would have to say, though, my most despicable villian would have to be Akito Sohma from Fruits Basket...he uses his position as "Head of Family" to manipulate, torture, and diminish the other Sohmas. While it's not killing, the inner torment he causes can almost be considered worse...
 So...up until recently I thought it was the ERLIC brothers, and I just found out it's the ELRIC brothers...so that explains my totally incompetent username :hits_self

Sesshoumaru is not despicable, or even really a villian. I resent that =P

I'd have to say Aion of Chrno Crusade. Usually I like the villians but ooooomigosh... I hated him with a passion. *kills him a hundred times over*
