There has been another thread on here about the Teen Titans even thou its done by WB but I believe alot of people who enjoy anime liked the series.
I have seen attendees at anime cons dressed as the Titans and doing cosplays using the Titans.
Acourse the way the series is done it looks animeish plus the theme song is done by the Japanese singing group Ami Yumi both in English and Japanese

In a nutshell, the storytelling is a much higher quality than the TV series. The most major difference is the target audience, while Teen Titans TV is written for ages 7+, the comic is written for a much older audience. The tone is thus far less comedy, and more of the tone you might find in, say, a live action superhero movie. Of course, this is merely my personal opinion, but the inexpensive graphic novels compiling the current series are well worth checking out and judging for yourself.

The comic book is very different - the two have very little in common. I would say it's difficult to compare them. The cartoon is more comedy oriented while the comic is more drama oriented. I would say I've enjoyed the cartoon more during it's run, but then I'm an old man who tends to get a little tired of angst when it is drawn out for any length of time.

Yeah, it`s like most Toonami shows from Japan and their manga. The comics are always more serious and targeted for older audiences.

That's interesting. However, I'll just take your word for it, because as I mentioned I have never ran across the Teen Titans comics. But if you want to explain the differences to me via PM, I'd read it and be moderatey interested.

In some ways, you might be surprised. I would actually say that it's the one DC series changed the most in transistion to the small screen. Dr. Light is probably the only character who made it into the series nearly completely unchanged.

Raven definitely changed a lot - she's much different in the comics. Even her powers are different.

Starfire's personality is about the exact opposite of her comic book persona but her powers are the same.

But the guys are pretty much the same. (Assuming Robin is the current comic book Robin and not Dick Grayson).

But all of the Titan enemies are very different. Most of them baer little if any resemblance to their comic book counter-parts. Except for Dr. Light, as mentioned.

All that said, I still agree with you. Inspite of the similarities, the cartoon has a completely different "feel" than the comic.

In the comic, there have been many more Titans than just what was in the cartoon. (In the showdown against the Brotherhood, you saw cameos from many of these other characters.) Here's some info solely on the comic versions of the main cartoon characters. I'll leave Robin out since I assume everyone is mostly familiar with D!ck/Jason/Tim.

Cyborg

Victor Stone's parents where researchers at S.T.A.R. labs. Although they wanted Vic to pursue more intellectual interests, Vic was far more interested in athletics and sports. An accident at S.T.A.R. labs killed his mother instantly when she accidentally unleashed a destrucive force which also attacked and seriously maimed Victor. His body nearly completely destroyed, he was saved by interference of his father, who grafted cybernetic parts to his body. Horrified by his appearance and believing himself to be a monster, he cut himself off everyone and everything he loved. Thankfully, he found himself a new home with the newly reformed Teen Titans (New Teen Titans), and managed to restore his sense of purpose in life. Currently, Cyborg has taken it upon himself to reform the Titans and prepare a new generation of superheroes for the future.

Starfire/Koriand'r
Given up into slavery as a teenager to save Tameran from distruction, Starfire had escaped to Earth, where she encountered the Teen Titans and became a full time member and Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing's main squeeze. Currently, she aids Cyborg and Beast Boy in the reformation of a new generation of Titans. She eventually leaves the Titans in the middle of the series to stand by Nightwing's side, leading The Outsiders.

Beast Boy/Garfield Logan
During an expedition with his parents in Africa, a young Garfield Logan was bitten by a rabid green monkey and infected with the rare virus Sakutia. His father rushed to save him, using an experimental treatment that cured him, but left him with the bizzare side effect of being green and able to change into any animal at will. When Garfield's parents died in a plane crash, he was adopted by the Doom Patrol. Gar's time with the Doom Patrol was short lived when the Team sacrificed their lives a few months later, leaving Garfield completely alone again. He sought an acting career in Hollywood for a brief time, (which failed), and eventually joined the Titans after learning about their reformation. Beast Boy currently aids Cyborg and Starfire in their endeaver to reform and lead the team. (Beast Boy at present is the current Teen Titans leader as Cyborg is attending to business in space.) Once insecure and prone to hiding his emotions behind his humor, he is now more self confident and experienced.

Raven

Origin-

Angela Roth suffered an abusive childhood at the hands of her parents in Gotham. Running away from home when she turned seventeen, she began a new life on the streets. Tired and thirsty, she wondered into a church one night in seek of solace, but what she came across was a satanic cult worshiping a demon known as the Eighth Devil, or Trigon. Finding a new home in the cult, and finally feeling part of a real family, she was chosen as the summoner to bring forth Trigon. The summoning was succesful, but when Trigon appeared, he raped her, and she fled from the church that night impregnated with the Devil's child. Lost and alone, and with the demon seed rapidly growing inside her, she was resuced by people from an alternate dimension known as Azerath. A dimension of pacifists, gave Angela a new name, Arella, to hide her from Trigon, and assisted her in giving birth to Raven.

In order to ensure Raven never gave into the darkness the existed inside her, she was taught never to feel emotion, and was prohibited from all contact. The only spark of emotion she ever had was hatred for her father. Despite all the precautions, Trigon wasn't stopped from attempting to arrive on Earth with a campaign of destruction. Raven traveled to our plane and sought out help from the Justice League, but they turned her down. She then encountered Robin (Dick Grayson) and with him helped reform the Teen Titans. They fought Trigon on several occasions, until Trigon was finally destroyed. But Raven was never fully able to release the dark side within her left by Trigon, and eventually the darkness fully corrupted her soul and she turned on the Titans, until her physical body was vaporized, and she was finally free. It was believed her soul dissapeared onto another plane of existence...

Rebirth-
The new Brother Blood, leading a cult worshipping Trigon, used the blood of his followers and his magic to craft a new body for Raven and bring her back. His intention was to wed Raven in union of unholy matrimony, and conquer the Earth and rid it of all unbelievers. His plan was stopped short when Raven used her powers to communicate to the Titans, and they fought Blood and rescued her. Given a new lease on life, and able to express herself freely without Trigon's influence, she has rejoined the Titans and has enrolled herself under an assumed identity in high school. Recently, she has expressed romantic interest in Beast Boy, and how the relationship will ultimately turn out remains to be seen, though fans predict it will take center stage much like Nightwing and Starfire did in the older comics.

Other differences:

Slade and Terra-
Slade Wilson AKA Deathstroke was at a young age one of the most decorated soldiers in the army, and it was also there he fell in love with his wife, Adeline, who bore him two sons, Grant and Joseph. While in the army, Slade volunteered to be a test subject for a medical experiment in resisting truth serums. But the experiment was actually a ploy for the government's experiments in creating meta-humans by experimentation on human test subjects. The experiments left him desperately weakened and bedridden for a time. But the experiments had a side effect... and gave him heightened physical strength and quick reflexes.

Slade was eventually discharged from the army after he violated orders to save his lifelong friend, Wintergreen. He took up hunting for a while, but it didn't quench his thirst for the life he once had. Secret from his wife and family, he became a mercenary known as Deathstroke the Terminator.

One of Slade's jobs involved assassinating a colonel from the country of Quarac, whose president sent a terrorist to target Slade and find out who hired him. The terrorist kidnapped his 5 year old son, Joseph, and Slade was forced to reveal his secret to his wife. Slade and Adeline confronted the terrorist - The Jackal - and Slade made a gamble he could move quick enough to save his son's life. He wasn't quite fast enough though, and although he managed to save Joseph, he was not fast enough before one of Jackal's men began sliting Joseph's throat. As a result, Joseph was a mute. Adeline was furious with Slade and tried to kill him, but Slade's quick reflexes saved him... but not before the bullet shot his eye out.

Several years later, the criminal organization H.I.V.E offered Slade a contract to take out the Teen Titans. Slade refused, and his son Grant (The Ravager) took up the contract. When Grant perished attempting to fulfill the contract, Slade took it up for revenge. After failing to fulfill it himself, he ran into a dangerous sociopath named Tara who had the ability to control the Earth.

Full of hate, but also emotionally unstable, she agreed to work with Slade as a double agent, learning the secrets and weakness of the Titans. Tara assisted Slade into leading the Titans into the hands of the H.I.V.E, save for Nightwing, who was aided by Slade's son Joe (Jericho) broke into H.I.V.E and rescued the Titans. In the ensuing battle, Tara accidentally killed herself, and Slade was captured to stand trial. The trial was sabatoged by Changeling (Beast Boy), who wanted Slade to go free so he could exact revenge himself. Slade showed up to their 'final battle' in civilian garb, forcing Changeling to see him as man, and not a simple vessel of taking his rage out because of Tara's betrayal. The men parted on truce terms and Slade took up hunting again in Africa.

Throughout the years, Slade has come into contact with the Titans many more times, and has even aided them a few times. Slade is at the moment on unfriendly terms with the current Titans however.

Blackfire-

Born as the first daughter to King Myand'r on Tamaran, she was supposed to be first in line for the throne, but she was born lacking the ability to convert the sun's solar energy into power along with being unable to fly. This made her be viewed as a cripple in the Tameranian's eyes, and she was passed over for the throne to her younger sister, Starfire. When Tameran was invaded, Blackfire, who was full of hate, defected to the enemy, and initiated a treaty between the invaders and Tameran, but had Starfire exiled into Slavery. She eventually came to her senses, however, and was successful in leading Tameran to freedom. She ruled justly as queen until Tameran was destroyed.

H.I.V.E-

Standing for Hierachy of International Vengeance and Extermination, they were an organization of criminals dedicated to world domination through terrorism and political manipulation, and were formed to stand united against common enemies, such as Superman and the Teen Titans. The leader discovered an alien being while in Asia, and used it's knowledge to turn the H.I.V.E into a powerful force of evil. The same alien also fathered Thunder and Lightning.

The Fearsome Five-

You know these as the H.I.V.E five from the cartoon, although they have nothing to do with the H.I.V.E in the comics, and were founded by Dr. Light.

Dr. Light-

About the same as the cartoon, except that at one time Light was a very dangerous psychopath until he infilatrated the J.L.A.'s headquarters and brutally attacked Elognated Man's wife. Fearing what he might do in the future, the League used Zatanna's powers to correct his behaivor, but the spell went wrong and Light recieved a partial lobotomy at the hands of the League. Light tried to continue his criminal career, but failed repeatedly. Dr. light found the JLA to be too powerful and felt he could defeat the younger Titans, and formed the Fearsome Five. When Dr. Light eventually learned of the tampering of his mind, he became enraged, and sought revenge on the costumed heroes. Light is currently more dangerous than ever...

Brother Blood-

700 years ago, a Christian Priest named Brother Sebastian came upon what he believed to be the prayer shawl of Christ. Whether it was or not, it gave him invulnerability and slowed down his aging. In order to gain the shawl, Sebastian slyed a priest who had the shawl, but was cursed by the priest in his dying breath. The curse was that the son must slay his father before his 100th birthday. This Brother Blood began the Cult of Blood and the practice of bathing in blood. The curse, of course, proved true, and each Blood was murdered by their sons all the way down to the 20th Century. Brother Blood (leader of the current Church of Blood) has crossed paths with the Titans many times, and was one of their major enemies. When Blood's mate bore him a baby girl, it was believed the curse had ended.

Brother Blood II-

It hadn't. Blood was eventually slain by a teenage boy claiming to be Brother Blood. This Blood was responsible for Raven's ressurection, hoping to make her his mate. The plan failed after the Titans rescued her. Blood II met his demise in the most recent issue of the Teen Titans, possibly ending the legacy of Brother Blood for good.

The Raven backround itself is too innapropriate to fit into the series.

That's very possible. X-Men's first issue came out in 1963 while Beast Boy's first appearance was in Doom Patrol #99 (1965). X-Men would have been majorly popular at the time if I'm not mistaken.

I doubt "Things Change" will be the last episode. They do this at the end of each season if you'll recall. If I'm not mistaken this is how Zatch Bell and possibly One Piece came to be on CN. They where brought in in Titans' time slot then moved when new episodes debuted the following season. Though if that was the final episode, it went out about as well as Rurouni Kenshin. Sad how the great go it is.

Cartoon Network has already announced it's cancellation. So it's gone until CN says otherwise. What will hopefully happen is that the new show will fall on it's face while the new season of JLU hits high ratings.

SAAAAAAAAAAD! That was the only show I watched on CN anymore~ But that's gone too. ToT...The bit on the comic personalities of the characters were interesting...but Raven's freaked me out. X_X;; I wish anime series would elaborate on characters more too. So the characters would have more depth and background to them...but oh well. Too late for that now? =P

A sequel. There are several Teen Titans series', actually.

Teen Titans (1st Series)
Also known as the Silver Age Teen Titans, it was a much different tone from what TT eventually became. It was targeted at kids, not adults, and featured slang several decades out of date. (Imagine middle age men trying to emulate modern teen slang (for the 60's) but failing miserably. It wasn't very popular and was cancelled twice.

New Teen Titans
Before this series, DC Comics was considered inferior to Marvel Comics. NTT was cited as a destined failure, but with the mature storytelling talent of Marv Wolfman and in depth character development, this series fastly became one of DC's best selling series. The TV series is loosely based on this series. Characters like Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, Slade, Terra, Trigon, Brother Blood, ect. made their first appearances in this series.

There were several various series' (sequels) that spawned off the success of the Teen Titans after the Wolfman series ended.

Teen Titans (3rd Series)
This is the current one. Cyborg, Starfire, and Beast Boy, now more grown and experienced, reform the Titans to prepare a new generation of heroes. (Set roughly 4 years after the Wolfman series, if I'm not mistaken.)
