Decline in Naruto? **spoilers*

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Fri Jan 20, 2006 9:37 pm

Note: Forgive me if my post seems so discombobulated and not making any sense.

If any of you have noticed this, but do any of you miss how... majestic the first 19 episodes of Naruto were?
I mean the whole friendship with Zabuza and Haku was so awesome. And on episode 19 when they both die like... seriously almost made me cry
I also loved the episodes around 80-some with
naruto fighting Gaara and they all talk about their past. Then Gaara becomes nice and stuff. That was awesome
I guess the song "Sorrow and Sadness" totally rocks.

Do you guys think that Naruto will reach back to its awesome peak after all these lame filler archs (like episodes 160-ish) that are totally giving me headaches? I seriously hope so
In the manga, after the kakashi story, it skips 2.5 years and they all battle akatsuki members. The Sakura/Chiyo vs Sasori battle was awesome!
Basically what I am trying to say is that Naruto was insanely awesome in the beginning to towards the middle. Great story and characters and fight scenes. But there is a recent minor decline in it. Especially the whole
lets save Sasuke from Orochimaru part. Those episodes just took WAY too long and got real repetative after a while. The manga sped things up faster.
I am going to assume the reason why things are spread for long episodes and contain filler is so that the manga can be up-to-date and more farther then the current episodes?

I knew of this before I was even into Naruto, though I haven't seen alot of the anime, actually.

Hopefully it does, cuz these fillers sound like suckiness to me. :/

I said it before, I'll say it again. IMHO, in order for Naruto to really take off, it needs to be on the Adult Swim spot. It seems to me that the restrictions of Toonami are holding it back from being really great.

My expectations of Naruto were pretty high when it premiered, (I mean, come on! It's one of the most famous anime/manga around!) but with the edits and the dialogue, it really waters it down, IMHO.

Can you tell me what a filler is?

Just not 100% sure of that reference.

Filler is something that stands apart from the story's plot. Typically, if the anime is based off a manga, stuff not in the manga in the anime is counted as filler.

I dont know, I think when the anime gets back on track with the manga its going to improve a ton, I mean the arc that should have happened instead of the filler is awesome and the next arc is even better (oh my word the latest chapter of the manga is insane)

Actually, yeah. I've never actually immersed in Naruto myself, but my Latin teacher told me that fillers kept happening because the anime is about at the same time the manga is. :O Wow.

The technical definition: A filler is anything that is used to draw out the plot and doesn't have anything to do with the main storyline.

The actual definition: Anime fans consider anything that wasn't originally in the manga as pure filler.

Actually, yeah. I've never actually immersed in Naruto myself, but my Latin teacher told me that fillers kept happening because the anime is about at the same time the manga is. :O Wow.

Your.. er... Latin teacher is correct.
Long anime series create filler material since the manga is still on-going. Unfortunately, there are often many problems with this: plot inconsistancies, weak writing/choreography, and out-of-character characters to name a few.
In some cases, it can kill a show's ratings or cause a show to go off in a completely different (and usually poorer) direction from the manga. Kenshin and Shaman King are examples of this.

I said it before, I'll say it again. IMHO, in order for Naruto to really take off, it needs to be on the Adult Swim spot. It seems to me that the restrictions of Toonami are holding it back from being really great.

And I'll say what I said again as well. Adult Swim is for "mature" shows like Cowboy Bebop, not for shonen adventure series like Naruto. Inuyasha is the exception, not the rule...

I really hope the story gets a comeback after these Filler episodes. I'm getting tired of the same stuff going on. =\ We have 9 more episodes till the filler ends [officially] and hopefully they'll get into the Kakashi Gaiden. ...

DARN YOU MASASHI KISHIMOTO FOR YOUR UNENDING FILLERS.

Masashi Kishimoto has nothing to do with the anime fillers. If you want to blame someone, blame Studio Pierrot and the people who are actually working on the Naruto anime.

YOUR LATIN TEACHER LIKES NARUTO????

I want to go to your school...... my old latin teacher likes Crunch Bars and Gladiator

Actually, FMA has 2 spoiler episodes.
Episode 13 with Ed vs Roy Mustang, but that's has some sort of importance. The other is with Lt. Havoc trying to get a girlfriend and wants to date Louis Armstrong's younger sister. That episode also has a whole scary-story about the haunted 13th hangar.
I saw that episode actually. Well the reason i said that is because FMA manga and anime have two different plots.

Now that i think of it, the FMA anime is a filler in itself.

I don't mind some filler for say an episode or two, like it seemed like was going to happen. Then it didn't stop. And now it won't stop for another few months. And it's not like the plot of these fillers are particularly good. I think it wouldn't have been much of a problem if they had realized earlier and spaced them out a bit more, rather than having an entire year or so worth of filler.

Yeah, from what I hear, it will go to the Kakashi Gaiden after the fillers, yet the reason that the previous part was dragged out was because they wanted to try not to put the fillers in. (Obviously it didn't work...) I'm sure that Naruto will return to its former glory soon enough... (I hope...)

In regards to FMA, I find it interesting that they were able to end the Anme so gracefully without having the ending of the Manga for source material. I hope the manga has a good ending too though. btw, Anyone see the movie?

Yes, it was quite good. The ending annoyed me though.
Ed is in our world, Al is in Risembool. Ed goes back to fight some guys that are going back. Al also slowly regians his memory and becomes a better alchemist. Then They meet (I really loved that part when they meet!) Then they end up both living in our world. I really wished that Ed and Al would of gone back to risembool to stay there forever
Episode 168 was absolutely horrible. It delt with ramen-making to save this one lady from the Cooking Ninjas. Not worth my 24 minutes >_>

Reminds me of the Anything Goes Martial Arts cooking battles from Ranma 1/2.

Except those were, you know, actually GOOD.
