EBaums Raid?

Postby Myoti » Sat Jan 14, 2006 8:30 am

Anyone here of this?

It appears the "great" webbase EBaum's World, known for their stealing and disrespect of the creators of said stolen things, has recently been plagued by quite a few angry forum members (of other sites, of course). The raids were so massive that the site has shutdown and crashed several times, and they're not at the point where just about any new members are getting banned on the spot.

I'm not sure of the stand on something like this, so I won't post the link I found (stating what happened and what is still currently happening), but I'll do so via PM if anyone wishes to know.

EDIT: I'm not necessarily calling this a GOOD thing, as there were some bystanders caught in the crossfire who really had no part in this, but I just thought I'd let ya'll know.

Considering Ebaum has had trolls on here before, thank you for not posting the links on-site.

I find quite a few of the ebaums things funny, but it really isnt a great site, and if something like this happened they probably had it coming to them.

Both YTMND.com and Eric's family are being totally immature about the whole situation. Still, eBaum is the lesser of two evils now because...

1. the whole "sticker" thing is driven by people with the apparent inability to read the English language. "Hosted" doesn't mean "Created by."

2. YTMND.com's members did go way too far and acted way too stupid. They temporarily put eBaum's forums out of commission and apparently played pranks around the building where Eric's servers are without even asking him to remove the "stolen" pictures from his site.

3. Eric claims that the person who submitted the media to him claimed to be the original creater of the .gif file. Even if this isn't the case, he was right when he removed the media at the real creator's request.

4. YTMND didn't start taking the situation seriously until a few days after Neil told them to stop harassing eBaum's. They continued allowing their members to make YTMND.coms that openly made fun of Eric and Neil, and actually supported those YTMNDs that did so. It wasn't until just a couple days ago that they pulled those sites from their site.

But, while YTMND started the whole thing, Ebaum's acted just as stupidly...
1. Neil's letter to YTMND.com looks very official at a glance, but it is very rude when read completely, especially once one reads his "AA Battery" joke.

2. Eric did remove the media from his site, but before he did, he changed the url of said media to an offensive title name aimed at YTMND.com

In conclusion, both sides are acting retarded. I don't know how it's going to end, but I bet it will go out without a bang.

It seems that alot of those involved are just plain stupid.

Actually, I hear that Something Awful claimed to be in it as well, but actually weren't... wierd...

SA was in it because they created ebaumsworldsucks.com and the songwriter said he was sorry when Baumn sent out the now-famous "Cease and Desist" order. He says that if the situation gets any worse, eBaum's World will win thanks to Eric's team of lawyers.

SA isn't really heavily involved in this whole fiasco.

Heh... maybe, but from what I've seen, the jokes on ytmnd and ebaums are often questionable too ^^;.

However, there are some funny sites on ytmnd.
