Firefox spyware?

Has anyone else been having trouble with Firefox in the last like 48 hours? It might just be me...but every 10 minutes or so...my connection speed goes right to zero...any downloads I have going bite it, and I have to re-connect to the net. I have run all sorts of spyware checking stuff and come up blank. I doubt its Earthlink (my ISP) So I am starting to think I picked somthing up like I used to get on IE. Any ideas? (running Win ME)

Just kidding (actually, I'm not :p), but I'll need a list of the extensions that you're using. Also, the next time it happens try using IE and then going to http://www.dslreports.com, then running a speed test. Doing this will check to see if it is indeed your ISP or the browser.

Yeah, Winme is horrible. With not getting all the current XP virus and such. *laughs at the XP users who trash talk on the ME users*

Edit:

Just tried using IE during a downtime and no dice. However somthing odd did happen. While sitting reading somthing, it suddenly started working again. My thinking is that my ISP might be doing line work or somthing. Because if you wait a second or two...pages start loading agian. I will put off reformatting a few days to see if things fix themselves.

Basically all the terminals I use (and I use a number on very different machines using different ISPs) run Firefox, and they've all been working fine. So hopefully it is just your provider and everything will be back to normal soon.

No. I reinstalled Winme this morning, and its working good. So much for Firefox not being able to pickup spyware and crap. Oh well.

Hey, spywareblaster does a great job of keeping that stuff from being installed in the first place. That, combined with good cookie control (set it to ask you every time whether or not you want to accept a cookie) leaves me with little or no spyware.

Tell me about it... I reported a bug that allowed programs to be installed to the HD (my AV caught it) and they said that could only happen in IE and wasn't their problem but then they later fixed it for version 1.5
