A nice lil' hypothetical poll question^^

Alright, say you went to the Roadshow and brought in some antique that had no specific sentimental value to it. And well, turns out it's some rare something-or-rather and well, nicely valued! So what then would you do with it? (Something I've actually contemplated myself when I watched the show). Remember, it's nothing too special to you and might as well sit in the corner collecting dust and probably end up in the trash you day.

For me, if it was nothing really special, I'd probably sell it. Make money quick off a piece of junk.

I'd definitely keep it. I wouldn't want to let something rare like that slip out of my hands if I could help it. And I'm also a bit of a pack rat, it's hard for me to just get rid of things...

Well, it depends on what the item is. If it's something I'm interested in, I'd keep it...but I'd have to be pretty sure I liked it. XD Sometimes I think I like money a bit too much...

It depends on the item. If, indeed, it was some piece of junk that meant nothing to me, and it turned out to be worth like 20,000 bucks or more, you'd better believe I'd be selling that thing and buying a car.

But, if it was some family heirloom, I'd definitely keep it even if it was worth thousands of dollars.

Unless of course it had a really bizarre story behind it. If that was the case, I'd probably be tempted to keep it.

Usually, if you have some thing that old and valuable, it probably has some personal meaning or family history. Because of that, I would keep it. I wouldn't go seeling some family heirloom.

Well I've only seen the show a couple times, but some of the people say stuff like "grandpa picked this up at a flea market"
or just a simple "this has been sitting in our house forever and we don't know what it is".

Not always special stuff. Sometimes it's just a "this looks old, let's see how much it's worth before I chuck it in the trash" :/

Option 2. I would hate to sell it and then years later find out I could have sold it for more.

If I thought it was cool or interesting, I'd keep it. If it was a thing collecting dust in my basement I didn't want, I'd likely either sell it or donate it to a museum it if was a priceless or important artifact of some sort. Yeah, I might kick myself for selling it to soon, but with niche markets, like most antiques are, you can also loose value over time. I'd rather trust a good mutual fund with my money than an antique (unless it was made of solid gold or some such).

I voted "sell it". I've got the grace of an ox, there's no way I could keep anything in good condition long enough for it to gain value (Believe me, I've tried). And if it's worth enough, perhaps I could catch up with all of the manga series I've fallen behind on...or do something useful...whatever I get a chance to do first.

I voted #2, not only because it adds the option of keeping it, but they say on the show whether or not it's a hot auction item.

Of course, if I cared little for the actual product at all, just thought it looked nifty, I'd sell it ASAP.
