My Kitty can Fetch!!!!

Postby ChristianKitsune » Tue Jan 10, 2006 3:18 pm

To all of those people that say Cat's are stupid.. BZZZZZZ WRONG!!

Last night I was drawing and somehow my cat found a straw and was playing with it. She jumped onto my bed and set it down and looked at me.

I looked at her and then grabbed the straw and threw it off my bed. She dashed off and caught it up in her teeth and brought it back to me and set it down and looked at me.

I picked it up again and threw it while laughing. She dashed off my bed once more and brought it back. This continued for about 10 minutes.

MY CAT, Pocky Rayz, CAN FETCH!!!! IT WAS SOO CUTE!!!

Does anyone else have a cat that can do cool tricks?

Did you hear or see the story of the cat that phoned 911 when his handy capped owner fell out of his wheel chair. The owner said he showed the cat how to do it and when he needed help the cat did it.
I think cats tend do things that people don't always get to see unless someone puts it on film.
There use to be a cat around here known as "Motor Cat" who like to ride on his owner's motorcycle. The owner made a helmet for "Motor Cat" and the cat would sit on the gas tank with the help of a little carpet.

My parents had a cat named Foxie who fetched Q-tips. My Dad would throw them down the stairs, and she would run down to get the Q-tip and bring it back to him. Repeat process.

Cats are not stupid. If they dont do tricks it is not because they cannot, but because they do not want to. My cats were attacking all sorts of inanimat objects last night. It was quite comical.

Well, let's see. . . my cat can eat at the speed of light, sleep for an entire day, and bring an extraordinary number of dead animals up to my porch. Do any of those things qualify??
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I amusingly suspect that repeatedly chasing a ball or stick or something that some human throws for their own amusement is not exactly a sign of intelligence, unless the animal is also amused at the same time, but this registers in favor of cats. The true complaint is that they wanted an animal that would say "How high" when they said "jump", and they don't have it.

I think it's kinda cute when they do this^^ Not trying to be morbid or anything, but I remember when my late cat was really happy and wanted me to follow her and show her a bird that she caught. I just thought it was cute because you can tell she was really proud about her catch^^ My new kitty now, being an indoor one, her biggest game is those giant spiders... so she gets lots of hugs when I see big dead ones in the basement.

As for fetching, my new kitty also likes twist ties (OBSESSES over them) and if I don't tie them together, she usually eats them (trust me, cats CAN be stupid sometimes. After eating ribbon and throwing up HOW many times, you think she'd learn...). But sometimes she'll stick the twits ties by my bed. Like a present^^ Sometimes she sort of half-way fetches them back when I play with her though.

Last year I had a cat that would roll over when I called his name. I had him for three years...He was a beautiful siamese/tabby mix. but...he died last summer. -.-

I found out after he died..that when cats roll over on their backs and show their tummies that is the ultimate sign of trust...and the biggest honor a cat can ever give you.

I miss him...-.- Pocky is cute..but..he was a sweet heart..she is just hyper!

Exactly, I think I nailed it when I interpreted the cat's actions that way - there is no reason for a cat to suspect our disgust with these doubtless tasty (to the cat) prize kills. The same goes for people though, after getting drunk and throwing up HOW many times, they keep doing it again enthusiastically, calling it a "good time" (now I have that Bill Cosby skit in my head)

I never knew cats could fetch until one of ours taught me. We would throw those little catnip mice for her down the stairs and she'd tear off down the steps and scurry back with the mouse in her mouth, meowing. kawaiiii. ^_^ i love kitties. and hate them. it's complicated LoL

My big kitty Smokey sits up on his haunches if you have a treat ready, especially a little bit of tuna. Like this:

(_ (_ )===

Really, no animal is stupid. They have different levels of intelligence. A dog that doesn't come when you call it (but knows what "come" means) is probably just not submissive. What an animal doesn't have to do in the wild, it probably won't do in your house...that's why cats are less likely to bring you things, and more likely to leave you things. Like....carcasses....<__<

I amusingly suspect that repeatedly chasing a ball or stick or something that some human throws for their own amusement is not exactly a sign of intelligence

It is a sign of intelligence and submissiveness. If the dog is submissive, it does what you want it to do, even if it doesn't know why you want it to behave in such a way. So in fact, it does show intelligence, as it can understand what you want it to do. I think that any dog that is submissive and understands what it is supposed to do will do any "trick" that is possible, simply because it wants to obey you.

Yes, he is....I should take a picture of him doing that sometime. He bats at the air with his paws too. LOL...X3

Using string can sometimes get him to sit up like that, but he's more likely to be motivated by food. :lol:

I don't know about that...my cat chased a labrador out of our yard once. :lol: Poor dog. :sweat: And he beats up on my own dog, too. I call Smokey (cat) "Tank." He looks like a tank when he's going after our dog. XDDD

I had a cat that would take on the neighbor's rottweiler. The dog would see her run up to the fence and bark at her. She would walk up to the fence and start swinging her paw at his nose and then sit and look at him.
