The lifespan of clothes.

Inspired by a hole I found in my jeans. XD How often do you find yourself throwing out old clothes? I can't seem to do it...I have clothes I've worn in elementary school. D:!! But I guess when you have a big hole in it, you have to throw it away.

Depends on where I wear the clothing. Just out and about, I get a long life out of jeans. Like 3 years or so. But if I wear em to work? Eh. I am lucky to get a year out of pants I use at work.

Jeans last a long time for me, I have not worn out any jeans I own yet.

Cargo pants last a good while too, but not as long. I wore our my favourite pair of cargo pants in six years. By the end, it looked like it had been in a battle.

Recently, it has disappeared from my wardrobe. I guess my mum chucked it out. :)

I have clothes I wore when I was, geez, 15, 13, maybe younger?

I find it cathartic to purge my closet. When you move, you realize how much crap you have that you really don't need, and someone else could really appreaciate the stuff that sits in your closet for years, unused.

Point being: My clothes last just fine, but I like simplyfying.

My cloths last a long time. After they are no longer decent to wear in society (usually 4, 5, 6 years) I keep them if they are comfortable to wear around the house. If they are not comfortable I keep them for painting, heavy work, ect.

I don't have very many clothes from long ago because of the several growth spurts I had in junior high through highschool. I'd have to ask my younger siblings how long those clothes lasted... As a principle, I think holey socks are among the only things that are thrown out. The rest are given to the Salvation Army when we have no further use for them.

I tend to wear my clothes until they start to get unseemly holes in them, then use them around the house or whatnot. Unfortunately I tend to favor more formal clothes than most people wear, and it's hard to find a use for polo shirts and nicer long sleeved shirts when they start to get holey. I too have few clothes from five or more years ago because I grew out of things quite quickly before I entered college, but since I entered college I have rarely bought new clothes (or thrown out old clothes) unless forced to do so by my sister and mother or by work requirements.

I agree. I have only trashed maybe one outfit in my entire life, everything goes to the thrift store.

At this stage in life, I do not beleive I have worn anything out before I outgrew it. Relevant data will likely come in over the next few years.

my socks last about a month, my shirts last practically forever.

whether or not a particular item of clothing lasts or not is many times taken from my mom's opinion, and wether or not i can convince her that having gashes in a shirt/ pant legs does not mean it is unwearable.

the current pair of shoes i have may not last as long as they could have, since i used them to stand on while being dragged by a snowmobile for 6 hours last saturday, with every intention of doing it again the next chance i get.

honestly, I have pants that HAVE been to a battlefield and back(grant it the battle field was a memorial by now, but you get the picture) They were my sisters so they're about ten years old now. The huge hole in the knee is duct taped shut as are some holes in the rear, there is a tinge of mud in them that just won't come out from mudsliding, And there is a white hand print on the butt from when I had a paint fight with a few other girls (they were merciless -_-')
they are not destroyed, they are loved

Shirts and pants last me FOREVER. My sweatshirts seem to have a lifespan of exactly one year - not because they're not well made...because I wear them nearly every day.

I usually don't throw my stained or holey clothes away--I keep them for house work or lazy days. Except for socks. Must throw away holey socks.

At least thrashed jeans are a fashion statement now, so they last even longer! Huzzah!

:O I would think the guys would have to throw their clothes out regularly in the teens...they grow so fast! >.<

The girls just have to worry about getting too fat for their clothes. XD

I'm in manual labor so it doesn't matter how old my shirts are. Many shirts have holes under the arms and are over 5 years old.

For me, it all depends on where I buy them. If I buy clothes at a nice place, they last a long long time, but if it's just from a department store or something they seem to wear out pretty quickly.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

My clothes last me forever. For some reason, though, over the last five or six
years some of my favorites have started disappearing.

It's a total mystery.

Either that, or a missustery...

My pants usually last a year and a half, and I have shirts I've had for 6 years, but most shirts last maybe 2 years...

Shirts last me FOREVER. When I was a kid, I hated clothes as a gift because they weren't fun like toys. As an adult, I don't like clothes as a gift because "well, I already have clothes."

For any of you Abercrombie and Fitch/whatever fashionable brand have-you--let me tell you that for the price of an eighty dollar T-shirt, I can get nine normal T's that six years later my Mom would beg me to throw in a dumpster (hopefully not--I plan to live on my own a lot sooner than that).

My clothes tend to last a long time. I still have a few pairs of jeans that I've had since high school. They're just so comfy that I can't get rid of them!
