Everyone else seems like they all had fun on New Years.
I just listened to my music, cry, stare at the wall, and hate fireworks.

I know I normally stay up late but not usually because I was crying for 3 hours...

I'm sorry to hear you had such a horrible New Years. I'm sure the rest of the year will get better. Just hang in there and pray. :hug:

parties not much fun anymore

Postby Dreamywingz » Thu Jan 05, 2006 9:33 pm

no my dear, it's nothing to be so sad about. Besides, many parties nowadays are full of drunks, drugs, sex, and other nasty rough stuff. Hey, the day I publish my mangas and become a billionaire, I'll be sure to open up something in my mansion for any of us in here to come and celebrate good clean hyperactive fun. It can happen! :thumb:

I will admit I had a difficult time around Christmas with all the muses singing "peace on earth and good will torward men" while all around the lethal human vivisection continues, poverty deepens, and the web of hatred and spiral of injustice keeps spinning tighter and longer, and while I grow more lonely and incoherant, I have found gothic music both Christian and secular to be a good coping factor though.

Yeah you need a hug. *hug*

If it makes you feel any better, I spent my New Year's Eve and Day moving into a new apartment... I was too exhausted to do anything, not that I would anyway. That saying that "the first think you do on New Year's, is what you'll be doing all year long" sort of holds true, as I spent it watching anime and playing video games... so this year I kept it up by watching Tokyo Godfathers. But here's to saying no to New Years... KANPAI!! *raises a root beer*

That is what I listened to. Well... That and all the depressing songs on my Barlow Girl CD. Somehow the Porcelain Heart song made me feel alot better after about 20 times of listening to it...

the only reasons...

Postby Dreamywingz » Thu Jan 05, 2006 9:53 pm

the only reason evil things continue to happen while we live on this earth is because of sin's web over so many lives. It started when the world's first humans made the wrong decision. Also, Satan is the thief, all he wants to die is kill us, destroy us and everything God put out, and steal away from us the things of God that will cause us to prosper and be filled with faith. I specifically remember a time when i was younger when i tried to be an atheist because i was angry with God for some of my own bad choices, and stuff i had no control over. Now, its all changed for the better. its funny how everytime we try to shove Him away, we back ourselves into him even more while the rest of the junk tries to corner us down. Be strong, you will overcome it. Remember who you are in Christ. There is love, even when ppl are ignorant of it around you, you know what love is...in Christ. ;)

Myself, I've come to appreciate the Sisters of Mercy, BATZZ in the Belfry, and Beauty for Ashes. I don't know the Barlow Girl band, but it is a good song;

"Porcelain Heart"

Broken heart one more time
Pick yourself up, why even cry
Broken pieces in your hands
Wonder how you'll make it whole

You know, you pray
This can't be the way
You cry, you say
Something's gotta change
And mend this porcelain heart of mine

Someone said "A broken heart
Would sting at first then make you stronger"
You wonder why this pain remains
Were hearts made whole just to break

Creator only You take brokenness
And create it into beauty once again

To which may be added from Beauty for Ashes,

TORTURE

Pour your blood upon me
Heal if me if you dare
I am so alone when you're not there
Tie me to your body
Overcome my fear
Just another cross for me to bear
Shelter me from the storm
Shelter me from the storm
Build a wall around me
Burn me from inside
I am so afraid when you're alive
Purge me of my sickeness
Save me from myself
Crucify the life that I've been dealt
Shelter me from the storm
Shelter me from the storm
Will you come to visit me again
Tell me will the torture ever end
Pour your blood upon me
Heal me if you dare
I am not alone when you draw near
Shelter me from the storm
Shelter me from the storm
Come on Jesus come
Come on Jesus come

Man, that's strange-- usually I find that listening to depressing music absolutely makes me feel worse, not better. It makes me start wallowing in my misery and stop focusing on making an effort to cheer up, and instead I become complacent in pain. If I'm really upset and want to feel better, I've got to listen to something that is happy or do something that I can enjoy.

Well, I'll be praying for you, darlin'! If you need to talk to someone, feel free to send a pm my way!
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

How old is your boyfriend? From the way you put it he deffinetly does not sound legal. And if your boyfriend's drinking habits depend on you being there or not then maybe it's time to let him go. That kind of stuff is just going to be an unnecesary burden on you and bring you down. And it deffinetly doesn't sound like this was just a one time thing but a regular occurence.

Same here, listening to depressing music makes me more depressed.

For what it's worth, I do hope you feel better, frauline. Holidays are pretty depressing for a lot of people (often myself included) and it's sad to see (and even worse to feel). Always seems like depression is just that much worse because you are supposed to feel happy. Hope things get better for you though.

As I recall, it is legal for parents to allow their own children to consume alchohol, which sounds like what happened here, although naturally they are responsible for the results of said consumption. Although gothic music isn't always depressing, depressing music at times like this does have the advantage of bringing pain into sharp focus to be experienced as it is and be dealt with - although certainly the opposite attitude from trying to "drown out" one's troubles with the bottle or with parties or sex or that kind of thing, or even from simply trying to act happy when one is not.

Yeah, I was depressed on New Years because I really, really miss my boyfriend...and don't be upset! It's not your fault!
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

:( I'm sorry you had such a bad New Year's! But here's a little advice; hopefully it'll cheer you up a bit. ;)

Try not to think about your depression so much. Spending so much time dwelling on the bad things in your life is unhealthy. Think of all of the good things you have in your life, don't focus on the bad all the time. Depression isn't something to want. It's not fun at all, right? Remember, the joy of the Lord is your strength! God wants you to be happy, He doesn't want you to be depressed! So try to cheer up, ok? Maybe the boyfriend you have now isn't the one for you. I'm sure God has someone even better in store for your life, or maybe He'll be able to change your current boyfriend into someone who won't make you feel this way. I'l be praying for you, though! :thumb:

While I do agree with a few things you've said here (to an extent), I think that our pain can be better dealt with by asking God for help. We don't have to be extremely depressed or pessimistic all of the time]

Granted; however, we don't have to act sad when we don't have to be.
