What did you get for Christmas?

What did you get for Christmas?

Postby Kawaiikneko » Sun Dec 25, 2005 10:12 am

This can be the obligatory "What I got for Christmas" thread, but I think it would be even better if we didn't limit it to just presents. Feel free to share something special God did for you this Christmas season, or something you got to do with your family.

As for me I didn't really ask for anything this Christmas, but my parents did get me a netflix account (WHOO~ lotsa anime~) and some new boots and bindings for my snowboard, so that was AWESOME.
We also took a ski trip, which was great because no one broke any bones (both my brother and sister broke arms last year snowboarding, my sister doing hers over our christmas skiing trip).. so that was good. I had a good time snowboarding with a friend I don't get to see much anymore.
Also, my family just got done playing a fun game of Apples to Apples, a game my sister got. It was really fun because I haven't really done a "game time" with my family for awhile. I usually skip out on them.

So, there's my Christmas blessings so far this year!

We actually haven't finished all our family Christmas events, so I'll wait 'till the dust settles to say that. As for my material posessions:

A stocking full of Japanese snacks :jump:
An "Otaku" T-shirt
2 CDs (Yuki Kajiura's "Fiction" and the "End of Evangelion OST)
Dot Hack part 2 (FINALLY!)
and a subscription to Newtype USA :wow!:

Actually, there is one cool thing to tell about. Thursday, me, my brother, and my sister's boyfriend help a family pick up a couch for their appartment. The father just transfered to the semonary where I go to school, and the family just moved in a few days ago. They're originally from Ethiopia, but have moved around a lot lately. Anyway, they had to get rid of a LOT of their stuff to make the move, so the appartment was pretty sparse, hence another family giving them the couch. Well, THAT family was in the process of moving out, so THEY unloaded bags upon pags of groceries and goodies and stuff that they couldn't take with THEM, thus helping out the first family quite a bit. It was really awsome, sort of reminded me just how cool God actually is. :)

(Our family has a... different way of doing Christmas. Instead of them picking out presents for us and putting them under the tree, they just give us money and let us pick them out. We also get gifts for the entire family, which sometimes we pick out and others they get for us. We open the family gifts on Christmas Eve as well as one of our own gifts. This Christmas I discovered that I have a hard time spending money. Needless to say, the only gift for just myself was a Rurouni Kenshin Profiles book. But among the family gifts was Viewtiful Joe (as soon as she finishes Banjo-Tooie Mom's going to play this), Star Wars the Essential Guide to Characters, Weapons, and Vehicles (three in one), and a Go board, which I am loving and forever bugging my siblings to play with me. Aaaand I get to go to Masters for sure! Rai-sama is also getting me a shinai and another mystery gift which should be in the mail soon. Of course, I still have more money to spend, which will probably go to untranslated DN Angel manga, RuroKen, and, um... a few Bionicle sets... The new vioka whatever things look neat... Um... Yeah.)

I got my State Alchemist uniform, which turned out AWESOME. The pants are a bit tight, and the coat needs a bit of tailor work (All going to be done tomorrow), but it's sooooo flippin' sweet!

I also got the complete Saber Marionette collection, all 16 DVD's of all the S.M. series. <3 Lime ^_^

I got a brand new pair of glasses, rimless, they're really nice. No nose pads either, the nose frame just rests on the bridge, VERY comfortable. Plus they're reflective silver, so they go great with my Hughes/State Alchy costume.

I got a load of Best Buy gift cards too, so come tomorrow I'll be snagging a few new DS/PSP games.

I got a lot of overshirts too...I'm an overshirt junkie.

I got great stuff though, very happy with everything I recieved ^_^

From my parents, I got bunches of clothes (wheeee I love new clothes!), some money, DDR for X-Box 360 and a foam dance pad, and two pairs of shoes. From Osaka, I got the latest Ted Dekker book, a purse, and. . . oh gosh! There's something else she got me, what was it. . . Well, I can't remember right now (doh!) but I'm sure I will later. Oh wait! That was quick, I remembered-- she got me the Hawk Nelson cd. Yus! Then I got Full Moon wo Sagashite 4 and two shirts from my little brother, and from my younger sister I got a shirt (it doesn't sound like much, but it was kind of expensive and she was saving for a drum set that she didn't know that she was already getting for X-mas :D.) But while presents to me are fun, I actually had more fun giving everyone the presents I bought, he he.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

From Jeremy (my fiancé) a new coat, (it’s what I wanted) house shoes, and a whistling tea pot.
From the gift exchange in Jeremy’s family two snowman. I love snowmen.

And for the gift exchange a $25 gift card.

Why must we be abandoned in times of need?
Do others not see when we yearn for their touch;
An insatiable hunger only they can feed.
Left alone with out their words – fallen into darkness.
Stumbling blindly without their light,
We fall and scream, knowing we've faced too much,
Knowing the only answer is flight.
Flight from the lives we once faced
And the joys and terrors others have brought.
Our time with them, a time of joy and life,
Wonder we all, was it for naught?

Christmas this year was special because it was at our house (instead of my grandparent's) and it was my first Christmas to really come home too (since I now live 5 hours away during school).

I got photo albums, picture frames, glass statuary for my room, flannel pajamas (it gets REALLY cold up there), a gift card to Kohl's, a teddy bear and candle, a gift card to Amazon.com, and a leather bound journal. Perhaps best of all, though, was the set of REAL pearls (earrings, necklace, and bracelet) from my parents which made me squeal.

This year God blessed my parents with some very large returns on the investments they had made. For that reason, I got much more this Christmas than I could even begin to deserve or expect. I got a Noir box set from Yumie, three pairs of jeans, DNAngel v. 10, a polo shirt, a thick foam DDR pad (Yumie got one too), a DDR game, some perfume, and two pairs of shoes. Oh, and my sister who is not Yumie got me the first season of the TV show 24. I like TV dramas but I have no time to watch them, so my only option is to ask for them on DVD. :lol:
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

This year I decided not to tell anyone what I wanted.
...
That really threw them for a whirl. XD

I ended up getting:
The new Rst.J CD,
Several incredibly stupid songs stuck in my head (none of which came from the afore mentioned CD),
An electric shaver (my track record with a blade is not so good... and my parents have a sense of humor),
A lot closer to my yankee relatives,
PhotoMaster (no manual- am going to spend a good deal of time trying to figure it out),
Poetic abilities I didn't know existed,
A fob (sp) for my Dad's car (the one I drive the most, and will probably inherit when it is replaced),
A renewed dread of Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve, and
A little silver cross on a chain (not too girly, I like it).
Until you find something worth dying for, you're not really living.

I got...

Christmas dinner and a great time at my parents' house with my family. :D

Both my husband and I, as well as my parents, have fallen on hard times over the last couple months, so none of us had money for gifts, so we all mutually agreed that gifts weren't important this year.

One of my favorite presents that I received was the ability to enjoy Christmas. I thought I was never going to get into the Christmas spirit and just enjoy the season for what it is, but God brought me through.

As for the other stuff:
  • a stuffed Ewok...I've been wanting an Ewok forever :D
  • a Kyou knit hat
  • lots of chocolate
  • some laundry detergent from Victoria's Secret-the stuff is pricey, but MAN does it smell incredibly wonderful, and it lasts until you wash it again!
  • a cute velvet pocket book
  • lots of clothes
  • makeup
  • vanilla scented lotion/spray/bodywash/etc baskets
  • a Fruits Basket pillow
  • some beautiful wallscrolls
  • a mango mandarin lotion giftset
  • :D Gift caaards
  • lots of wonderful telephone calls :)
  • a hand made necklace, bracelet and earrings that a friend made for me
