A Writer...

Postby Destroyer2000 » Fri Dec 23, 2005 7:17 am

Strangely enough, I've found that describes me quite well. I write stories VERY often, and I have several on hold right now, some that are really long. Not fanfiction, either. So, does anyone else do this?

Yeeeeeeees.
I have many stories on hold and three finished ones so far. I want to finish them all, but I think most will be flops. And I'm kind of stuck on them, so I haven't been able to finish them. -_-

And so hold on when there is nothing left in you

I guess one could say I was a writer in the sense that I can string words in a line and have them convey a story. I'd like to only think of myself as having achieved that particular status once I have the ability to speak to the hearts of (or captivate) the reader. Until then, I'll merely be someone who writes, not a true writer. But that's just me. :)

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

I echo Ink in that I don't think I'm a writer, just a person who writes.

I have two projects, one I've been working on for over five years, the other for about three. I'm trying to finish one of them before the end of 2006.

People think writing is easy, but it's not, is it? If it was easy, we wouldn't all have unfinished projects sitting around XD

I used to be really imaginative when it came to stories, but now I fear I'm becoming too practical. I blame school. Just like you guys, I have a bunch of unfinished stories. Writing is a great way to just escape stressful stuff and relax. I think having an imagination is part of our being made in God's image. For example, J.R.R. Tolkien created an entire world, including advanced maps and languages. For sure, God is the most imaginative of all as seen in His creations.

There was a time when I really didn't consider myself a writer, just someone with enough skill and stubbornness (also useful) to put a few stories together. But then by the time I finished those stories, I had twice that number of ideas, and this trend has continued. Also, I tend not to think visually, but purely conceptually. Obviously I haven't analyzed what I mean by the difference between being a person who writes and being a writer, but my initial inclination is to put myself in the latter category.

So true...

I have a bazillion of projects that I have yet to finish. Writing is not as easy as it seems.

 If it was so easy then Presidents would write their own speeches, ghost writers wouldn't exist, and famous people could write their own books instead of having them written by ghost writers!!! *done rant*

yea... I want to be a "writer." It's somether that i have always wanted to be since the 5th grade. I have always loved stories, and i think that i always will. I have written many poems, and short stories, but no stories of length to boast about. It's really something I want to do with my life, but, we'll see.

Many times though... it seems to me that the books being published these days are getting worse and worse, and everybody and his grandma are writing memoirs these days. It is up to us, the CAA writers of Tomorrow to show the world that Good writing is not dead!!!

*leads legions of writers* ONWARD!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm a writer. I have...3 complete novels that I've written, two of them over 500 pages, and a ton of short stories and even more ideas...lol...I should probably try to get them published.

The hard part is having a good, original idia...the writing part, fleshing out your idea, is actually very easy for me, but I understand why other people might think it's hard.

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks

Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!
