Suggestions for a Good Box Set...

Postby CookinLikeSanji » Tue Dec 20, 2005 12:34 pm

Alrighty, as some of you may know, today is my birthday. For my birthday, I am entitled to selecting a present that I'd like from my parents, I'm dying to get a new box set, but I have no idea what to pick.

I need suggestions, lots of them if possible, preferably relating to my tastes in anime.

I'm a big fan of Hellsing, Bebop, Champloo, FMA and the like, so basically I'm a big action anime nut.

So can you guys please help me out and give me some suggestions ^_^?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know how you feel about mecha, but it certainly is an action title:

A real nice series.

Ah yes, Escaflowne...

I remember seeing it on TV a few times, then they took it off the air after like 6 episodes. ^_^; For the longest time I thought that was the entire series.

Escaflowne is absolutely classic, a great action/mecha anime. I like RaXephon, but it wasn't until the second viewing of the series that I liked it. It's....interesting. If you havn't seen it, I wouldn't buy all of it at once, because its one of those things that some people like and some don't.

Another action anime that's quite good is Noir, its interesting and very well done, one of my favorites. That might be another good one to look into.

I highly recommend you get Fruits Basket, it is a great series, very funny and heart felt. If you like total randomness that is strange, yet hilarious, I would suggest Azumanga-Diaoh. And if you like an awesome serious one, try .hack//sign. :)

I'd second Noir. You can get that box for 60 bucks at Best Buy.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I saw that Walmart has the complete Evangelion platinum boxset for under $50. I haven't seen the whole series yet though.

*runs away from that topic before getting banned*

Noir and Last Exile are great choices, as people have said before me. Then there's Outlaw Star, if you don't mind a few content issues. Of course there's Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, but those are a bit more expensive.

I don't know of a lot of box sets, but there's the season 1 box set of Rurouni Kenshin, and I saw the Pretear Thin pack for about $40.
