I might when I go to school fulltime. But for now, it's not something I bring to work. Generally, work being a store, I try to keep down what I bring with me to stuff that easily fits in a pocket or can be hung on a belt (multitool, USB memory stick, etc.) But I digress. If I really need Bible access, I can go online.

when i went to christian school... man no one followed the bible... it was more of a text book I was thought of as weird because i prayed and sung with my whole heart.

Yes, there are many people in the school who don't really believe what they claim to. I would doubt that many of them are even saved. Fortunately, our school seems to be a step ahead of many others. There are a lot of strong Christians in my class (class of 07), and for that, I am very thankful

I read it at home, take it to church sometimes, but I really should take it wherever - if only I had a smaller copy. My current one is a bit heavy (500g) to take with all the otherthings. I'll have to keep this in mind.

I used to take mine everyday to public school, but now that I'm in college and running all over the place like craziness, I don't even carry a purse, just a messenger bag filled with the basics.

I leave my Bible at home. I avoid theological debates now, because they don't seem to change anyone's views and the truth of my views have been best defended by others, therefore I feel no need to defend them. The breaks I have are spent where I live, so there's no need to carry a bible for that purpose.

I don't generally carry The Bible, or any other book. All of my study is done at home, in the classroom, or some other place best suited to reading and contemplation.

For those of you that do carry Bibles, how often do you find yourself using them in theological debate? Knowing passages and anecdotes is helpful, but only if they're already in your head. Putting your partner on hold while you flip around for an answer is neither helpful nor compassionate. The best place to carry this sword is in your heart.

I got one of those green mini-bibles from one of those evangalist guys (it was free) and it has somehow managed to jump from one backpack to the other over the years. And it's pretty nifty on occassion.

I almost always have a Bible handy. I own several, so one is the work Bible that I leave in the office, another is the car Bible that stays in the car, then I have my study Bible and the One Year Bible for daily reading.

However, I have not be faithful in my daily readings recently, and it shows. Daily reading is too important to let it slip.

It would be hard to carry a bible arround with me on the golf course where I work, and there would not be much time to read it, so I leave it at home. I do bring it to church.

I echo the words of Sennin and Cap'n Nick. Theological debates are tiresome, and if a person does not accept the Bible as God's word, it's pointless to use verses against them. I believe in the words of St. Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words" and believe that living a life pleasing to God as an example to others will do much more to change their hearts than flinging text.

It is important to KNOW the Bible, don't get me wrong, but I agree fully with Nick when he says that it is more important to have the Word in your heart, not in your backpack.

To get back to the original focus of this question, no, I almost never carry my Bible with me anywhere, aside from trips away from home.

On the contrary, I find theological debates fun, when everyone respects each other and no one necessarily feels the need to 'win'. It's when people get smug or defensive that they are tiresome. (In the words of my friend Drew, "Daniel, are you condemning Timmy to hell AGAIN?")

I do think it absolutely necessary to be well-educated in logic, doctrine, and scriptures, but I also think that showing God through your life is just as important. Both are necessary, and should compliment one another.

I agree with Kae, good point Nick. Though it sometimes led to legalism, it was vitally important in the Old Testament for the Jews to know the Scriptures by heart. I love books, but it seems having the Bible for easy reference has somewhat spoiled us.

yep i dotn know about the debate but incase i am asked " I am always ready"

One of the reason i always carry mine ... in case i have to do an exorcism... i cant be witrhout my weapon and part of my protection.

ehhh..... kinda... I got my laptop with me alot with internet access (http://www.biblegateway.org baby) and I have a bible in my locker 24/7 (for religion class but I use it for other things too)

so the answer is 90%, because I dont have it WITH me all times, but its in my school

XD Mine isn't that fancy, actually - it's quite beaten up. I've had it since the 2nd grade. My worry isn't really about it attracting attention to its worth, but my friend had a very run of the mill Bible and hers got stolen and thrown into the toilet. I don't want my Bible to get the same treatment - I love it dearly and it has over a decade of hilighting and notes in it, and I'd be crushed if it got ruined. ^^;

Actually, by break I meant the ten minute break that my school has between first and second period.

I do agree that it is important to know God's word. I also agree that Christians shouldn't push their beliefs on others. However, some of the (willing) people that I have had theological discussions with at school have wanted direct quotes or references. For quite a few of the verses that I know, I know a general area, but not the exact reference. I also have had some interesting debates with a Mormons (who accept the Bible as true) in which it is good to point out very specific references and exact contraditions. Having study notes on hand is helpful too!

For the most part, no. I've worked on my hand to hand skills, so to speak.

Metaphores aside, a Bible is generally only as far as the nearest computer, so I don't carry mine unless it is needed for a specific event or lecture.
