CG animation based on parable of Jesus

Postby sondog » Tue Dec 13, 2005 1:09 am

Hi,

What an amazing forum this is. I am very new to anime. I am an animator, but haven't really attempted anything "anime" yet.

Image

Wasn't sure if this was OK to post this here, but thought I'd give it a try. I created an animation for a contest in which all the entries are based on the parables of Jesus. My entry is called FOOL and is based on the parable of the sower of the seed. If you have the time (it's only 3 minutes long), check it out. LINK TO FOOL

And if you like it, you could help me out by leaving a nice review... :)

First of all, lets see if it loads with my internet connection. ;) It looks like its good some good reviews so far. Gah: I'm going to need to download some plugins to run it. Still, the synopsis (if that's the right word) has me interested: it sounds like a neat film.

What a strange movie! Great message mate, its awesome to see you using your God-given talents to reach out to people. I enjoyed the surreality of it.
How long did it take to animate/complete and what mediums did you use?
It looks like a similar method of animation to that cartoon: Angela Anaconda.

God Bless you mate and welcome to the CAA! I hope you enjoy it here.

Wow. That was really good! The expressions were well done, and the music... did you make the music too?

Glad it blessed you. Thanks so much for the encouragement -- I really appreciate it!

"How long did it take to animate/complete and what mediums did you use?"

Well...about 4 or 5 months, but not full-time. I mainly used Poser 6 to create and animate and render it (using the new toon shader) and composited it in After Effects.

"did you make the music too?"

I wish. I got it from a right-free stock collection I purchased (although I did do a little bit of cutting and re-arranging of segments to make it flow more appropriately with the action).

Whoa, that was neat! The music went with the scenes beautifully! Very novel, and lots of fun to watch!

Thanks, Roll -- glad you liked it! Hopefully we can all get in touch with our "inner fool" and do foolish things like reach out to those around us with the love of Jesus. :)

Wow! That's pretty amazing, sondog! :thumb: I love the "fool" approach, too; reminds of TobyMac's "Diverse City" freak show metaphor. I'm going to try to show this to some people, too. Good job and welcome to CAA! :thumb:

"Looked like Sims, but then again it IS 3d."

Yes, it is -- although I experimented with a 2D toon shader that I think made it look a little more like a Flash toon.

Well...FOOL was awarded "1st Prize" in the online film contest. :)

I am in the process of submitting it (FOOL) to other film festivals. If you get a chance, please pray that God will be glorified through my work.

(Also, I am submitting other animations to festivals as well.)

That was really cool! Be sure to share when you make something else. Neat idea, very funny. Especially the part when the fool started coming out of the skater guy! Good work.
