Any one like underoath? They're my favorite band at the present moment. They're a screamo/hardcore metal band. And they're Christian! The only problame is that their band broke up :mutter: and got new band members. So their newest CD is totally differnt style than their older stuff. Personally I like their olderstuff better.

"They're Only Chasing Safety" is a cool CD. I'm not familiar with their older stuff though.

I didn't know they were nerds... *see spelling in thread title*

I heard they will be returning to thier previous music style but I am not sure if that is 100% correct.

I sure hope though.

I've heard a tiny bit of their one of their first two CD's and it was pretty darn crazy. Very hard. Out of the ones that you can buy for under $40 dollars I like They're Only Chasing Safety the best.

I haven't heard their old stuff, but I like their new cd!
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!

Their new stuff is too tame once you hear Cry's Of The Past or even The Changing of Times.

But you got to give to them for putting a song like Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape on an album received well by the general public.

I was able to score a great Compilation - Solid State, I think it was - from a Christian bookstore at $5 and was even more pleased once I got it home and realised it had songs from Underoath and Demon Hunter on it.

I haven't really followed the band but I enjoyed the song on the CD and will be on the lookout for more. Its quite hard for me to find songs outside of the more 'mainstream' and well-known Christian artists in NZ; you can probably see why I was so happy to see Underoath's name on the back of the CD. :) I will keep an eye out for the albums mentioned here.

With Dallas being gone and basically the entire band being different, I don't really see how that's possible. Much as I'd love it, I think the Underoath that made Cries of the Past/Acts of Depression/The Changing of Times is long dead. The new Underoath is good, but it won't touch any of those. I do really like They're Only Chasing Safety but it doesn't hold a candle to the old stuff, so I just don't see how they could return to the whole epic death-metal-hardcore-whatever that they used to be. In fact, in an interview with Tim McTague, he said that they don't even like that kind of music anymore.

However...they ARE getting harder. It's not the same style as on previous albums but they played one of their new songs when I saw them Saturday night and it was pretty rad. I dug it wholly and I hope they do more stuff like it. It was long and aggressive with lots of build-up, which I much prefer to the 3-minute bursts of pop-hardcore that They're Only Chasing Safety had.

I know it sounds like I'm trashing on They're Only Chasing Safety but I'm really not. I like the CD. I think I'm just subconsciously bitter towards Underoath for ditching Dallas Taylor and doing a 180 degree turn in their musical style. I think it'd annoy me less if they'd changed their name and stopped being Underoath. Underoath should have died a long time ago, considering this is hardly the same band.

I actually like "They're Only Chasing Safety" a lot better than "The Changing Of Times." From the few songs I've heard of it, it was just not as appealing to me...I really do want to get their first two albums though...They're awesome from what I've listened to.

I love underoath! I like their new stuff but it just can't compare to their older music. My favorite music of theirs would be found on Cries Of The Past.Man that stuff just owns;the guitar work, the keyboards, everything.Im not sure about legal stuff and all that(I don't see as where its wrong to download music that is out of print but thats just my opoinion) but you can download 3 old Underaoth songs here:Old Underoath .The Last is just amazing and the other ones are very good too.

I'm guessing that it's going to be harder than Chasing Safety...But not a whole lot...I think that it'll probably be like their new song "I've got ten friends and a crowbar that says you ain't gonna do jack."
