I'm actually in the process of watching the OVA practically as we speak (internet break between episodes). Gotta say I'm really diggin' it. There aren't that many pure classical fantasy anime out there, at least not that I can think of.

I saw this anime and thought it was a decent show. There were some things which were worthy of ridicule (the character "Lord Cashew"), but it did not really detract from the series, which is alot of fun.

i liked the tv series but the voice acting was bad and i have yet to see the OVA series yet

That's "Kashue"... but I did the same thing, yelling "Gesundheit" at the screen whenever his name was mentioned

This sort of fell apart towards the end. Aside from the feeling there was a lot more story here than could really be crammed into 13 episodes, the finale was just lame. Ashram is determined to fight Parn and keep him from recuing Deed why, exactly? Does he want Kardis awakened? Didn't he just go through that whole fight with Wegnard to prevent that very thing?
And what's with Karla? For her all her blather about preserving Lodoss and the balance of power, she did jack squat when push came to shove. And what was the bit with Mycen or whatever the gold dragon's name was summoning other dragons or something? I didn't see them ever show up.
The weird thing is that I've seen the entire OVA and never saw some scenes that I've seen in clips of the show and heard discussed in the past. And I don't think they could be from the TV series, as that's a sequel and some of the character in the aforementioned scenes die in the OVA.
