Contact help

Postby desperado » Sat Dec 10, 2005 11:34 am

First off I am searching for some cat eye contacts for cosplaying illapalazo from excel saga.
I went today to the local wal-mart vision center to order some of the cat eyes. Turns out they stopped carying the one brand and now carry a brand that is twice the price (old brand was 60-70 ish for prescription and new brand is 135 dollars). Can anyone link me to a site that has similar contacts in prescription? All the sites I seem to find dont carry prescription.

I suggest going to your optomotrist and asking them about reputable brands of costume contacts. I've heard of a lot of NASTY things happening with cheap costume contact lenses, and when dealing with something irreplacable like your vision, I definitely would be careful. Remember that going cheap with something like this is probably a fool hardy decision, so either you're going to want to invest in a pair that you can use over and over again or forget about the contacts.

Never ever buy the non-perscription contact brands. Many people developed eye problems due to using them, and that's why it's illegal to sell them nowadays.

So, talk to your optomotrist and see if he has any solutions...

The thing was the pair for 60 was carried by my local wal mart. The problem is wal mart switches what brands it carries constantly and they stopped getting those in, now all the carry is the ones more then double the original brands price) Now I dont plan on getting anything non prescription considering without glasses or contacts i can see barely two feet in front of my face.
And to slater, I infact did talk to my optomitrist and he suggested to check online due to how fickle wal mart is with when they carry what. He said to check out some sites and look for ones that were wide on the pupil area otherwise i would get yellow ghosting at night.

http://www.visiondirect.com/

I did some digging on cosplay.com and that place was reccommended by a member. You can get cat eye contacts there in prescription, though for the cateyes, it's a bit limited (nearsighted only). Just as a quick precaution, I'd call your optomotrist and ask them about it before ordering. I think you're going to be dropping about $72 for a pair, but it's a lot better than some other places I've seen. ^^ I might check them out myself and get a red pair for my Kantarou cosplay.

Good good I am extremely nearsighted! As said before I can only see a couple feet infront of me. I am pretty stuck though between http://www.cosplaylab.com/proshop/continue.asp
and
http://www.visiondirect.com/la/product/default.asp?pid=90977&catid=10898&trx=PLST-0-CAT&trxp1=10898&trxp2=90977&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-CAT
If I can round up the money I want to go with the one you suggested but if I cant I will check out the first one (also recomended by cosplay.com (asked there to)).
