The scourge of the degree-free wannabe employee

This thing is pure evil... It takes up so much time, the questions are vague and the answers are closed ended... I can't possibly be honest because my answer doesn't fit ANY of their choices most of the time, and it isn't hard to see what answers they want, making it very stressfull to try to answer as honestly as possible... What's with no middle ground? Do potential employers even read your results, or are they fed into a computer? If that's the case, then if I can't get into one place that uses this rediculous test, I won't get into any of them, because they all use the same one!!

I seriously want to drown whoever it was that came up with this test... And the corporate executives that made the decission to use them...

Did I mention I had to do 3 of these today? If Hollywood Video or staples or Vons use this, I'm not even going to bother...

I would do it for gamestop or EB games, though... I mean, that's a job that would be worth the hassle... That's my dreamjob that is realizable without a degree... You all should know what my dream job is provided I had the means... Anyhow...

Those things take me like 40 minutes to an hour a piece... Vons had one, Hollywood has one (I'm actually doing that one... I don't know why) Walmart and Sams had one, but luckily applying to one applies to the other... I can be sure Staples will have them, as will any store like best buy or like staples (circuit city, office depot/max) These things make me so mad... I end up feeling so guilty, because I can't answer honestly... I think I may pray that Unicru shuts down, and that all of their employees find God and become missionaries in third world nations.

Many major retail companies (but not all) use questionaires like that. However, I recently submitted applications to Gamestop and EBgames, neither had those kind of questionaires.

I can see them being used to sort out who might be best to put up front to work with the customers. Beyond that, stocking shelves and moving inventory can be done by just about anyone. All of this though should certainly be motivation to get a degree, or be stuck with these kind of joe jobs.

I recall these types of tests discussed. They were sort of tests of a person's moral character, despite allegations they don't work. I remember having to do that at Rite Aid and Kinko's

Some psychologist developed this soft of test. From what I understand, there is some formula not unlike on quizilla that allows the employer to supposedly determine what kind of employee you are. I have done two or three of them, and I do not plan to do one again. They are pretty arbitrary.

Yeah, like meboeck said they are supposed to give a sort of personality profile of the person taking them. My advice would be to avoid the huge chains if you can.

Unfortunately, I don't have a choice unless I wanna go fastfood... Fastfood is truly bottom of the barrel, and I'd rather go through 20 of these and find a good job than fill out a simple app for fast food any day... Still, my last paying job was acquired purely by a begging request from my Brother, who sorta knew the manager... I don't have anyone like that to help me out this time, and that job was, of course, fast food anyhow...

Have you checked places like hotels and golf courses? If you get into a good city run golf course, the pay is likely to be good, and the work varied and interesting. Though you would have to wait till about may, and there would only be work till november, but it sure beats ringing up items at a department store.
