Church Cancelled???

Postby cbwing0 » Sun Dec 14, 2003 8:24 am

I was all ready to go to church this morning, but then I checked my email. Do you know what I found? An email telling me that church was cancelled due to the weather (snow). This has never happened before, and I don't really think it was necessary, but it's done, so here I am sitting in front of my computer when I should be sitting in a pew. :(

What denomination are you guys? I'm a Catholic, and we beleive it to be a very serious sin to skip church without a good reason.

"Vineyard Christian Fellowship" and we're a small church that doesn't have a back up pastor, let me rephrase, we were on vacation and since we don't have a back up pastor then we couldn't do church, so I guess it wasn't really for the heck of it but oh well.

I'm a Baptist. I've just never been to a church that cancelled its services.

Did you know the person and was the source reliable? As a pastor, if I did have to cancel church services because of weather I would not use email to notify people. Many of our older members would never get the announcement. What we do here is notify the local television and radio stations and they give a listing of closures over the air.

Yeah, the person was the youth pastor at the church. I know him really well, so I trust him that church was cancelled. Most of the people at the church are college kids, so they all have email; thus, it isn't a problem notifying everyone. I suppose they could call anyone who didn't have email, but they would definitely be in the minority.

my church was cancelled too. It wasn't because of the snow, but because of the ice...we had a rain/sleet storm over the weekend and the roads weren't safe. Black ice has been reported in several different areas, and from what I heard on the news last night there was a six car pile up and a few other minor accidents because of it.

I go on fighting against that invisible something!"
